Have any of you more experienced practitioners in the art of exploit found a way to bypass the Burden of Guilt debuff yet?
10% movement speed is kinda slow.....   Undecided

There must be a way.....Turbine buggers everything up.

The ddo forums has a nice post somewhere about replacing 1 item that doesn't belong and you get to keep the rest without the debuff.
I saw the thread in general discussions I believe about 10 minutes ago.

why remove anything when all you need to do is /death... takes the debuff away.. and leaves you with your gear on...

Don't they all have Creutzfeldt–Jakob already?  It would explain a lot.

Yep, read a post about removing the last item causing the debuff, but every time you relog, you have to remove another item and there is no way to replace (once removed) them apparently.

Who would have thought that death was a solution to having a burden of guilt..... pretty insensitive of Turbine really.  Smiley

I had not actually taken notice of the full impacts until I read CDR's link to this.
As per the Wiki:
http://ddowiki.com/page/Burden_of_Guilt
Burden of Guilt
You have equipped a magical item that you probably shouldn't. You will suffer from reduced movement and attack speed until you unequip this item.

This condition was introduced in Update 20 to penalize characters that have abused an exploit. Characters that have equipped gear with higher minimum level than character level suffer from this condition, which bestows the following penalties:

50% penalty to melee attack speed
30% penalty to ranged attack speed
    1 penalty to attack rolls
    1 penalty to armor class
    10 penalty to jump
1 penalty to reflex saving throws
    90% penalty to movement speed

Where do they find these muppets who make decisions at Turdbine?
Ok, so let's present a scenario.
I've been a bit naughty and equipped an item or ten that I should not have because it is over my current character level.
Turdbine know this, and have a fix to stop it happening, but they need to find a way to get people to unequip all the existing over-level items.
So the creative thinking geniuses come up with a really clever and funny idea.
They'll use a punitive debuff!
So I log in and find my movement speed reduced to 10% - that does not phase me as I'm used to playing my game like a slideshow.
50% penalty to melee attack speed.  Ooh - that's harsh.  I'll just have to mash the attack button more to try and make up for it.
10 penalty to jump - ouch. that hurts.  At this run speed, my jump is already down to 4 inches - now it will be half of that.  I can't even jump up stairs.  Hope they have disability accessibility in mind and use ramps everywhere.

-1 to reflex, attack and AC - ok, that's a fucking deal breaker right there!  Off with this shit!  Who needs +10 stat of +10 resistance when it means I suffer a massive -1 to all those critical checks!

I mean seriously!  Isn't the 90% movement penalty enough for most?  It is virtually unplayable (until you remove the debuff).
And where the fuck did the numbers come from?  Why 90%/50%/30%?  Why not just make it -100% movement?
So the player has a choice between playing an inanimate garden gnome or their toon.  I wonder how many days they spent in the meeting room brainstorming this.

If they wanted to actually be funny and deter people from doing this, they could have the toon immobilised, polymorphed into a kobold and wearing a "cheater" hat until they removed the item.

These muppets are wasting the few brain cells they have coming up with not-so-clever shit, when they could actually being doing something productive.

If they wanted to do it in an unfunny way and just be efficient, write a script that removes over-level items when you log on.  If it malfunctions, so what, you re-equip the item.
Yes there are some innocent peeps wearing gear that they were entitled to wear until FoS changed the ML on them.  But the debuff still fucks them over too, so same outcome from a Turdbine perspective.

Mind you, if they had the capability to do this, they would have reset the twists of fate feature many months ago.

I just wish these guys would stop trying to be clever and just aim for competency.

Anyway, rant over.

TL:DR Burden of Guilt, Garden Gnomes, amazing sex toys and Turbine clueless as ever.

What the actual fuck.

Just to recap:

1. They introduce a wierd bug which allows to bypass ML requirements.
2. Instead of fixing it, they introduce a debuff which deters using it.
3. It turns out that the debuff can be removed by /death.
4. Instead of fixing that, or the intial bug, for that matter, they disable /death.

What is this piling of shit on top of each other? Are they dense? Stupid? Oblivious?

That's not opinion, that's science. And science is one cold hearted bitch with a 14 inch strap on.

They have disabled /death now?

Many many facepalms... way to annoy folks who aren't taking advantage of the bug as well as those that are. Le sigh.

When did they disable /death?
Wow - only tested it a few hours ago!

Holy shit - these guys are more incompetent than I imagined.
Instead of reacting all the time - try being proactive!

The bug is actually fixed. It's just that characters who already had equipped items got to keep them. So, to force you to remove them, they added the burden of guilt debuff.

So, log out on the boat or in water, dive off, drown.  Problem solved.
