Since I'm not planning on making any more farming accounts, the actual best way to make a new mule account is to buy a retail box of DDO off eBay for ~$5. I don't even know whether any are even left for sale, but if you activate a retail box on an account it gives you a month of VIP which gets access to all the VIP benefits for a month (including all packs, which makes leveling it up a lot easier), 500 TP, and premium once the VIP expires. The Owlbear doesn't come near the Kitty usefulness... Even after all the tweak they did on it.

Kitty = Fighter Hireling with a semi decent brain and decent survivability from LVL 18 to LVL 25. After 25 it degrades, Fast, but Owlly ( that should have replaced Kitty above 25 ) doesn't come near that level of usefulness...

Panther was available with collectors edition.
Definitely not with the starter pack.

Yes it's small potatoes in the big picture, but I could see this bothering some new players.

Around level 5 is when plat cap gets more accommodating.

And don't forget AH 1 item limit.

Buying Druid pack, maybe the only benefit is the premium upgrade. If Market Motu also gives premium, for $3.75 more the standard gives way more to a F2P account vs the Druid pack.

Spending any amounts of real world cash no matter what method (DDO Market, Steam, in game store, Retail Store Point Cards, etc.) as long as it's legitimate, will make you eligible for Premium upgrade. In normal circumstances it will happen automatically.

But if it does not occur automatically, contact DDO by submitting a ticket or phone call and they will upgrade you on the spot once they verified that you have indeed made a purchase or redeemed a code on your account. Despite Turbine's flaws with coding the game, they are usually very responsive about correcting these types of things manually as I've experienced personally.

I know it's nowhere near as effective as an email but it's on their launcher which got bumped down by the "Account Maintenance Downtime" message, a paragraph long. Although, I suppose hardly anyone scrolls down on their launcher feed.

Oh, but it's also posted on their facebook page! Oh wait, but that also got bumped down... twice, by the "Account Maintenance" message and by the "Screenshot of the Week!"
