If they're redoing airships, could levels higher than 100.
Really, I'm aware they're making it seem "Cool as possible" to make people want to keep playing, but what i see as coming up seems interesting to me.

FUCK YOU wrote on Dec 3rd, 2013 at 11:08am:
Our first update of the year introduces two level 30 raids in the dwarf ruins of Thunderholme. The adventure area covers 7 floors with multiple raid and group encounters, while the raids start with a mated pair of red dragons and culminate in a confrontation with Aurgloroasa the Sibilant Shade. In addition to these two raids, we’ve reserved the option to add a third later in the year.

If I'm going to get raid weapons and armor, I like the idea of getting dwarf made weapons and armor.  Especially if they're super-dwarfs that are using red dragons to power their forges.

Quote:
One concept that we’re working through (but not promising) is end-game items. Initial proposals for this had internal names like “Greensteel 2,” “Intelligent Weapons” and “Sentient Weapons.” (Yes, there are implications of difference between “Intelligent” and “Sentient” weapons, depending on the version of D&D.) Ultimately these are items that are acquired in the endgame, earn experience and advance with you, and could require you to sacrifice other equipment to them to develop their power. Design has barely begun on this, but it may release in multiple phases and include crafting elements.

Sacrifice named raid loot to power up your end game weapons and gear.  The end of "need before greed" is at hand!  Let the trolling begin!  Smiley

...I actually like the idea of sacrificing named loot to pump up gear as long as they allow us to sacrifice old raid loot.  giving people a reason to run old content to get obsolete loot would be a Good Thing(tm).

I'm resigned to the fact that all content will be Turbined.

Given that, I think the plans look decent.

A half-dozen boss Vaulties donated generously with real money to my classroom during a fundraiser in May 2015 to get poor kids books to read. I won't forget that. They know who they are, and they freaking rule.

Fucking hell. Turbine, you didn't even finish the basic classes' prestige enhancements, let alone debug this system. "Critical hit" - bullshit.

Everything but epic 3bc looks fairly decent. That just looks pointless. I like the area but man, it's just not what i'd go for if i decided to go epic.. at all.

There was a name transition at some point.  Originally it was Thunderhome, situated under the Thunder Peaks.  At some point it became Thunderholme after the 90's.  Same place, same lore, new L.

I just wish the borrowed references weren't so obviously concocted by a surburban American.

That goes for most media in the past 50 years.

I didn't mean to infer that Turbine had dreamed it up, just that the name itself was thought of by an uneducated person brainwashed by the cheapest pulp fantasy and brought up on cartoons and sitcoms.

Most of Ed's stuff is a partial rip off of Tolkien anyway.  Some of it is really well done though.  I always drummed up the unimaginative stuff that seems to crop up around dwarves as the fact that they themselves are unimaginative.  That let me sleep at night.

I'll reserve my answer to Rowan's appearance for the Official Forums...

FR was released in 1987 and has been stacked on since and was started in the 60's.  It appears to be long term profit as well as quick.

There, we're all caught up again. A bit of deja vu and a bit of paint fumes.

Also, i'm not that crazy about Anauroch... We already have three full quest chains dealing with the netherese, do we really need another one? The game might end up going from dungeons and devils online to dungeons and shadovar offline.
At least there's phaerimm in the mix.. thats the one thing i have to look forward to on that update.

The entire Forgotten Realms nomenclature is a cheesy ripoff of popular fantasy, I have thought that since the late 80's when D&D began making its way into mainstream culture. I'm not saying it was down to Turbine, but they still need to be a little more discerning in their naming choices.

It's particularly bad when it comes to the names of some of the loot, at least cross reference new with old to avoid embarassing duplications. At least choose a name that doesn't sound like you found it by looking in a thesaurus or used a random name generator that uses the corniest prefixes and suffixes selected from pulp fantasy. Roll Eyes

PS - American cheesyness comes from the obvious lack of distinction between traditional words and the bastardisations of recent popular culture.

You're right.  D&D just isn't good enough for you.  You should go do something else.

Phaerimm are pretty insanely powered.  4 spells per round in PNP made some nice DIAF moments.  Time stop followed by Disjunction followed by Otto's for everyone, then DBF's set to go off the round after the time stop fades.

What happened to my gear?
Why am I dancing?
What are all these dots?
