The entire Forgotten Realms nomenclature is a cheesy ripoff of popular fantasy, I have thought that since the late 80's when D&D began making its way into mainstream culture. I'm not saying it was down to Turbine, but they still need to be a little more discerning in their naming choices.

It's particularly bad when it comes to the names of some of the loot, at least cross reference new with old to avoid embarassing duplications. At least choose a name that doesn't sound like you found it by looking in a thesaurus or used a random name generator that uses the corniest prefixes and suffixes selected from pulp fantasy. Roll Eyes

PS - American cheesyness comes from the obvious lack of distinction between traditional words and the bastardisations of recent popular culture.

Hey, dipshit, they aren't going to license the IP and then go and rename everything.

There's no point in paying for the IP and not using it for branding purposes.  Otherwise, it's not FR.  It's something that looks like FR, but isn't.  Which just pisses off everyone.

You may not like FR, and you wouldn't be alone, but mocking them for using names straight out of FR is stupid.  Of course they are going to use stuff straight out of FR.  That's why they spent all that money on licensing and taking the time to develop the environment.

If you want original IP, go play some other game that isn't based on existing IP from hundreds of books, modules, and an entire campaign setting.

At least Waterdeep sounds cool, Turbine whiteknight.

I would prefer to see Greyhawk. Smiley It's good to see some of the FR stuff, I think that the Underdark, Sschindylrin, and the Stormhorns are nicely done. I had never heard of Eberron before DDO, but I do enjoy the Steampunk of the Orient style that it has.

You know what current/former players always say when I talk to them about what would be good for DDO? "New airships", they say. "New airship layouts and more twee pirate shit."

Turbine are clearly well connected to their player base and its demands. Good work, team!

WHERE ARE THE ENHANCEMENTS AND EPIC DESTINIES YOU DIDN'T FINISH?

Pointing out another incorrect statement by you is not defending Turbine.  It is exhausting, though.  Even a broken watch is correct twice a day.  Your track record is worse.

I have to say that development should not be player driven.  Yes, doing things that are feasible that players want is fine, but letting them drive development is destining it for a brick wall.

With that said, yeah, air ships are non-existent on the 'glaring disappointment fix me now list'.

This would free up some bank space for sure. Wya too many TOD rings and random crap just sitting there.  Maybe help some of the pack rats in the game.

Nope, we'll just gather more garbage to feed the artifact instead of cleaning it up.

No way!  I need an Epic Airship to give me 45-60 elemental resistance for running through Tangleroot and Shan-to-Kor.
