It's particularly bad when it comes to the names of some of the loot, at least cross reference new with old to avoid embarassing duplications. At least choose a name that doesn't sound like you found it by looking in a thesaurus or used a random name generator that uses the corniest prefixes and suffixes selected from pulp fantasy.
PS - American cheesyness comes from the obvious lack of distinction between traditional words and the bastardisations of recent popular culture.
Hey, dipshit, they aren't going to license the IP and then go and rename everything.
There's no point in paying for the IP and not using it for branding purposes. Otherwise, it's not FR. It's something that looks like FR, but isn't. Which just pisses off everyone.
You may not like FR, and you wouldn't be alone, but mocking them for using names straight out of FR is stupid. Of course they are going to use stuff straight out of FR. That's why they spent all that money on licensing and taking the time to develop the environment.
If you want original IP, go play some other game that isn't based on existing IP from hundreds of books, modules, and an entire campaign setting.
