This build's aim is to provide a rogue dps build which offers a variety of measures to ensure sneak attack damage. I don't plan to do a lot of EEs with this build, as it is really just an alt which I might run EHs with.

13 Rogue, 6 Ranger, 1 Favored Soul. True Neutral Dwarf. 1 Fighter Past Life, 34 build points

16 Str
16 Dex
16 Con
10 Int
6 Wis
12 Cha

Stat level-ups: Enough in Dex so you can get ISA at 21 or 24, e.g. +3 tome and 20 and 24 level-up, or +4 tome and one of those. Rest in Str.

Class Progression:
1 Rog
2-7 Ran
8 Rog
9 FVS
10 - 20 Rog

Feats:
1 Power Attack
3 Stunning Blow
6 Cleave
9 Great Cleave
12 IC: Bludgeoning
15 GTWF
18 Emp. Heal, Dodge or IC: Ranged (if you want better self-heals, damage mitigation or manyshot dps)
21 OC
24 ISA
27 Epic DR

26 Tactician
28 PTWF

Weapons: Dual Mornh
Destiny: Legendary Dreadnought for Pulverizer.
Enhancements: Dwarf Racial for more Hammer damage and tactics, Tempest for Damage and off-hand chance, DWS for clickies, SA damage and Exposing Strike, rest in assassin for more SA damage. Warpriest for Divine Might, which is a +6 Str bonus, i.e. +3 Tactics, at cap.

Build notes: Imho, 1 FVS > 1 Fighter, as Divine Might offers the better boost to Stunning Blow. I regard Bow + Manyshot as a nice situational option, but this build isn't designed with a lot of pewpewing in mind. Mad props to Shortslice for inspiring me to think about Mornh Rogues by soloing EE Cry on his.

stunning blow=10 base+21 str+10 item+5 exc item+6 ld+1 fighter past life+3 dwarf=56 dc

I might step into one or the other EE as well, I just wanted to clarify that I am not building to meet the EE DCs for stunning blow.

Other feedback than "at least it's not 7 wis/6sorc/7cle" would be appreciated. (Anyway: I think that 6 Wiz/6 Sorc/6FVS +2 would certainly provide an interesting framework for a MM spamming shriadi)

56 Stunning Blow DC isn't even going to be good enough for EH in later content like Weyloon Prison and the Storm Horns dungeons. I doubt 56 will be good enough for EH Gianthold quests either.

Seriously, if you're going to insist on using Stunning Blow, get at least 2 Fighter levels so you can access the +3 Tactics enhancements.

You *really* need to have a 60+ Stunning Blow DC to land it reliably in some of the newer EH content.

Heh.  Well, I can't speak from recent experience.  I think the last time I'd ran with him was in the great "vast and mysterious" content drought.  So this would be when pretty much all we were doing was running the shroud over and over again, and the level cap was 16.

But at that time, from a dps perspective, the character was a miserable failure.

It's possible that there has been some improvements since then.

Well, based on the fact that he put up a guild recruitment lfm that was barely legible, I would wager he is desperate for guildies Wink so probably not much improvement Smiley

Thanks. Adjusted some numbers as ram's wasn't included, and DM is insightful (but for example 12 base + 8 item + 3 tome + 3 insightful +2 ship = 28, ie. +9 insightful).

Thanks for the heads-up. Since Stunning Blow isn't the only source of enabling SA damage, I think I will be fine with that.

Are you suggesting to drop the Ranger levels instead?

Honestly there's nothing wrong with the level split. It may not be a world-beater but you've got a build here with Overwhelming Crit, Empower Heal, some options for boosting devotion, exposing strike which is just outstanding, manyshot + improved crit: ranged (if you go that route). It's a nice build for someone that wants to have sneak damage and 13+ rogue but doesn't want to go full-retard int for assassin (which I love but's another thread and another build).

That said, I think what people are getting at is that the Stunning Blow just isn't worth it on this character. If you can sneak the FvS level in at or before 3 and swap in Empower Heal there in place of the stun you'd have a much better character - Manyshot with OC/Imp Crit for those times you want to do some spike damage on the boss, a decent pre-item sp pool for Cocoon (along with plenty of devotion), plenty of rogue levels to keep your trapping/UMD up even with less int, etc.

I'm not sure about the choice of dwarf if you're not stunning - the -2 cha hurts DM among many other issues and I'd love to fit in more int for skill points and trapping - but that's minor. Dumping the Stunning Blow so you're not locked in to finding ways to support it is the main thing people seem to be getting at.

Go human and drop stunning blow for sure. You don't seem to be getting much mileage out of it, sadly. Plus it would help you focus on other things  Smiley
