There are Castlevania games around currently but nothing like the old set or Symphony.  Wouldn't mind seeing a high def version of those, Metroid would be nice as well.  I'm with you on Eve, I bought them for my psp/ps3 just to be able to run them when I'm traveling.  Would buy a new version in a second but Squeenix is too busy being broke and stupid to make anything but FF games atm.

Vandal Hearts
Silent Service or any WW2 Naval Warfare Genre
the AD&D Game for Intellivision

Vandal Hearts actually had a new release on PS3 if you didn't know.

Silent Storm.  It died with all the other turn-based squad-level games.

While it is not exactly a lost/forgotten franchise, I would like to see more console, non-MMO releases.

Try X-COM, Enemy unknown/within.  Not as good as the original X-COM but pretty goon in its own right.

Oh I remember now. This game was awesome too. This is the one you could shoot through walls etc. Right?

Meh. Get some mods for Jagged Alliance 2 if you feel like dying in hilarious ways.
Or maybe if you are some gun nut in "non Murica" way, like like the history or something but not necessarily shooting em ( or someone else for that matter ).

I did, and I agree with your assessment.  The original I probably played through 3 times, as well as Terror From  the Deep.

The new one was good for one play-through, and I'm pretty sure I saw everything there is to see there, unfortunately.  Maybe I'll boot it back up some rainy day.

IIRC certain weapons had a given amount of penetration, depending on the material you were shooting through.  Pretty much anything using rifle ammo up through MG's.  Eventually you destroy what you're shooting through if it takes enough damage.

Did a play through once where my squad was two teams consisting of one scout and two snipers each.  Scouts move up, snipers pick off everything they see, rinse, repeat.  The other side literally never knew what hit them.  Smiley

If you liked Enemy Unknown, keep an eye on Steam for the expansion Enemy Within to go on sale, the new mechanics make it good for more playthroughs.

Might and Magic series.
Continuing the story from MaM 7 - 8 (thou 8 was kind of a spinoff) - MaM 9 was just wier thing not from MaM universe.

Arcanum: Of Steamwork and magic Obscura. There was so many unanswered questions! Also, Kerghan the Terrible is the best antagonist in game history. Only few omnicidal maniacs can actually make sense...

The best antagonist in game history is Kefka from Final Fantasy.

A close second would probably be Sephiroth (FF7), Jonericus (Baldur's Gate 2), or Epoch.

Yeah! Him! I wanted to be able to learn his spell of whatever that was absorbing the souls of the Bhaalspawn, I figured that since I was a wizard of the highest level and a Bhaalspawn, I should be able to absorb the essence of the lesser Bhaalspawn and crown myself the new Lord of Murder and Magic.

I'd also like to see more of the Greyhawk world. There was only one game there (Temple of Elemental Evil), and I remember it being awesome.

Pool of Radiance: Ruins of Myth Drannor was way too buggy. I had to restart the game several times because of the glitched saves.

Silent storm and Xcom.

The new Xcom was kinda meh... destructible enviroment my ass. You couldn't even target it.

Makes me wanna see some new Xcom with Silent storm engine.

Also, Disciples.

Sshhh

The days when you couldn't release a broken game Cheesy Reading all of this made me pull out Lemmings tribes and Vikings :p

Is it just me that has a problem with how games that I had to upgrade my 'PC' to play, can now be played on a cheap cellphone?

Aw, hell yeah!  If I remember correctly, Dune 2 was the first city-building game with combat; before Warcraft, before CoC...  someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Loved the Sierra adventure games.  They'll likely be my next GOG purchase, after I'm finished with all the D&D games I just got.

Lucasarts made some great games.  I think Full Throttle was mentioned in this thread or the "Best Franchise" thread, but it's a terrible oversight if it wasn't.

Also, I'm under 40 and I played all these games new.   Cool
