I was trying to get some 5 recipe from Risia; go to the renting skates NPC and run behind him, just behind the wooden platform where he is, I jumped up and a teleportation screen shows up to find me at the top of the ramp (the very top who almost nobody use); i don't know if it's a bug, so don't know why turbine sells goodies to transport you to the upper platform when you can do it for free, hehe
  
We need more guillotine's revolutions!!!

I found one of these as well a while ago.

Swimming into that little notch in the ice will produce the same effect.

theres a few of these "teleport" locations.. they are useful, to the people who do the jump legit... i personally prefer jumping from house, to mast, to second mast.. to purple coin.. avoiding the ramps entirely... or... my other favorite.. to jump off the tavern to the purple coin... xD

Oh, yes, you have your special friend that protects you, but we, the normal players, still have to do something to complete a quest.
