I have doubts about the veracity of the OP's message.

Rowan's producer letter was only two months ago. Layoffs would not let them finish the work outlined in the letter. With the revenue from the game, how many full time equivalent staff can they have working on it? I'd guess maybe as many as 20-ish FTE, and probably  fewer since some departments seem to be shared across games. One thing I noticed is that he only used the word "update" in his letter, not "expansions".

Given the upcoming level cap increase and content in the pipeline (which Rowan stated was confirmed), I would be surprised to see any layoffs before the end of 2014, if at all. Posts from MajMal indicate that they're already almost a skeleton crew with all available Turbine resources devoted to Infinite Crisis. Maj also made one post recently saying something about not bugging one group of devs about DDO for the next few months. Several people moved from the DDO team over to IC - Eladrin and also the guy who wrecked secret doors on his way out? Madfloyd too?

The last round of layoffs after MoTU overlooked people who carried on destroying the game for the past year, and got rid of some people who genuinely cared and who could interact well with players. For that reason alone, I'd not want to see another round. If and when the game goes into maintenance mode, it would be nice if they could at least un-break a few FoS'd things like loot tables - I want invis clickies back, and many other things, along with addition of more effects to Cannith Crafting, which desparately needs an update to level 30. It would be nice if they also left a few people to focus on the known issues for a year.

I'm can't really comment on Turbine specifically, but from a more generic corporate standpoint, this would not be a factor in their decision making process.

Wow what a fucking bunch of sad idiots.

You think of yourself as th avant-garde of DDO yet you are unable to part valuable info from boobie-spam.

How you want proof when you get first hand info form a whistleblower right out of the Turdbine offices????!!! You dumb motherfuckers!

The whistleblowers is choosing this forum to announce the inevitable downfall of that company, at least the imminent switch to maint mode for our game, and nobody seems to understand? Wow. Unbefuckinglievable.

I wanna thank ghostwriter for this inside snip. Mant mode is coming, but kudos to their marketing dept, all this BS about council etc. seems to distract even the critical players from the real facts.

Sigh...
You are so bad ass! I'm impressed, you can throw irrelevant insults at random strangers via the interweb.
Does Mummy know you're using her computer to look at boobies?
I bet you laughed so hard you peed a little bit when you managed to get sperm and ass in the same sentence?
When you grow up and get a job cleaning the crappers at Maccas, you'll begin to understand about job security.  Until then, you can just type rude words on the interweb.

And I am no fan of Cordo - not sure how you managed to extrapolate that.

Crack,

I'm hoping that GhostWriter's info isn't true, but I think it is wise to wait and see as it does contradict what MajMal and FOS have both said in recent posts.  It could be someone having a lark at us bro.

Yes it is possible that senior mgmt have just decided this and those two guys were unaware.  I agree that tech companies don't tend to give heads up of these things.

Both MajMal and FOS seemed to imply that things appeared to be going well from the inside perspective.

MajMal hasn't appeared yet to shoot it down though.....

And if it is true, there is nothing we can do.  It will either go to maintenance or be closed down depending on the costs to keep it running.  Either way, is a bad outcome.

Sorry dude, but my mother doesn't own a computer, and I don't use it to look at boobies. I use it to watch midget rape donkey porn with your mom. She's quite fond of donkeys.

Now go play in traffic like a good little brony.

I agree that unless someone comes up with any sign of proof, thi is bullcrap as it contradictes any official information  (which is not a proof by itself, but still).

So, can we get Majmal comment on this?

Btw. Anyone being surprised by drama on vault should immediately go DIAF.

I am (only slightly) surprised how far from the original intention this went.
After seeing FoS claiming that "he wasn't fired; he quit", I made a random new account to spread rumors of Turbine lay-offs. I was hoping someone would spread this into his thread. It seems no one made the connection.

The Feathered One has already been gone a while... So new lay-offs wouldn't coincide with Feathered Fuckups.

Sheesh, and you had someone believing that you were some sorta Turbine insider and was willing to have a brawl about the rest of us not believing you. He might be willing to give you a BJ, too!

His final day was Jan 31. The post claims lay offs were on Feb 7. Laid off employees would be given advance notice. The Vault would reasonably believe that FoS would choose to leave on his own terms, rather than be fired a week later.

Edit: For those interested, the password for the Ghostwriter account is 'password'. Well, for until someone reads this edit.

Interesting. No indication on which games are affected either.

In 2012, Turbine laid off a bunch of temps and contract workers who they brought on to get MoTU finished.

Infinite Crisis is almost done and has taken up most of Turbine's resources for the past year, so what are the odds that Turbine is scaling that team down?

Note to any Turbine staffers reading this, and one I genuinely hope you share around the office: DDO has become a shit game because y'all have made it a shit game. Once it was great. Now, it's a festering puddle of monkey diarrhea. No matter how you try to justify it, or pat yourselves on the back for doing great jobs... it's a shit game now because of you. Y'all keep on giving the players the middle finger, and you keep expecting us to reward you for the abuse. I've had it with you narcissistic fuckwads and your myopic policies of ineptitude.

The lay-off workers thing might have been applicable to only one worker.

Feather was gone 2 weeks ago, so no

its pretty much on most mmo news sites now, the WB quote is the same on all though

Quote:
"As part of our normal business process, we're routinely looking at the strategic alignment of our company. Unfortunately, in order for us to invest in growth areas at Turbine, we have to eliminate some positions. These are always tough decisions, which we don't approach lightly, but it's crucial that Turbine is structured in a way that reflects the current and coming marketplace."

Am I the only one hoping that the Community Manager position would be wiped and given to someone who plays the game, loves it, would take care of it, feed it, water it, hide its poo under some dirt, and not feed it to live piranhas?
