New Oracle colors up. Represent!

The Oracle brings you something Zen - Hawt newness and DOOOOOOM at the same time!   It's like "you got valium in my peanut butter!"  "No, you got peanut butter on my colonoscopy slide!"

The Oracle has add the server load ticker for <gasp> other DDO sites.  Updated hourly, consider it sort of like a server up display, except instead of a green "yeah" light it shows the load for the last 4 hours.   If the load average flatlines to zero, take the hint - that's red.

It's in 240x400 web std format.  There's a high res version too if you're really motivated.  Just embed the image link here:
http://ddoracle.com/serverLoadTicker.png
Would be nice if the graphic was a link back to the Oracle's Traffic Report.

So your Oracle figures this will be pretty cool for all 5 fansites.  Technically it's a continuously updated PNG so you could use it for your desktop or phone background too, but if you do, you have issues.

The only thing that's not cool is the name.  Oracle Trax is meh, but there's not a lot that would fit in the format well and fit all the criteria.  So this was a discussion with the Thelanis misfit society last night and the suggestion was to throw it up on the Vault and let you guys run with it.

Zerg!

No, it looks legit based on a quick count in the Who list.  Yet LFMs and end-game is still dead  Cheesy

being almost 50% higher than the next closest server (based on rough eyeball math) still seems a bit high.

Actually the Oracle suspects that Turbine deliberately rotates the default login server, which is very evident on the Oracle's LotRO Annual report.

That graph plainly shows that different slower servers got promoted, getting a huge boost in traffic, and that when one server got promoted the previous preferred server tanked.   So far, it appears that they change that every 4 months or so, and I suspect LotRO will change servers again shortly.

From the DDO side, the busy servers are and have been Thelanis and Khyber.  Possibly they took a hint from their LotRO team members and decided to feature slower servers.  In DDO's case, one might think Wayfinder should have been picked, but hang out in Wayfinder for a while and you'll find it's an English-speaking server already, and more English speakers certainly isn't going to help it develop the German language community for which it was intended.

Wayfinder was the default server selection for awhile awhile back, but I think they rethought the wisdom after they got pushback for sending poor newbs to a dead server.

The players of Wayfinder do nothing to encourage new players whatsoever.

The players of Wayfinder complained about how dead it was and in the summer, Cordovan did some talking behind the scenes and had the login server defaulted to Wayfinder just as Cdr says.

The player retention was abysmal as new players quickly left because no one was on Wayfinder or they could not afford the gear on Wayfinder.

I made a character on Wayfinder today for the first time ever.  I ran to 50 favor and then went back to Argonessen.

So we're actually getting some new players? That's pretty cool.

Any sense as to how the level distribution of characters online (as opposed to all characters on the server) compares to other servers?

If the gap between other servers and GLand is new players, that sharp dropoff at at Shadowfail is pretty telling. New player friendly was supposed to be a selling point, and instead there was a sharp drop that took weeks to recover.

Turdbin, keep changing the DDO rules, because McDonalds sold over 200 billion hamburgers by changing the recipe for their Special Sauce every couple of months to keep interest up.

Too many private chat channel grouping to really worry about LFM's (except for new players of course).

Any chance of getting one to span days/weeks (trying to pinpoint days/times when it would be best to do Events on each server) Would be much obliged.

I wish.

Or maybe my time one just sucks. And the levels are more and more spread out.

Too big?  Sorry, it's a standard web banner format, didn't think it would be readable much smaller than that.

Guess no one is going to want the big one then!

Oh, i was referring to this one ~http://ddoracle.com/images/serverLoadHourly.big.png

It was too big for my frame, and was cutting off the right side, but i was able to shrink it Cheesy

I dont think its updating at all though.. cuz.. its looked identical for the past few days.. could just be that logins / day are identical.. but that's too coincidental.. xD
