I think it's a feature unqiue to LA. My friends who work in Hollywood get the same from aspiring wannabes until they realize they're not the "producer" that's going to give them the big break. I never noticed it when in San Diego, or Northern CA. Or frankly, anywhere else in the world. NYC has of course the legend of the waiter fed stock tip, but I've never corroborated that. In most cases my concern for waitstaff only is only that they're effective and they don't fuck up my carryout order. Oh, and if they're exceedingly cute bartenders.

Having a number of let's just say, "recruiters" of various stripes, as acquaintances, I don't think they're generally picking up waitstaff as a rule.� The chance some waiter you randomly meet wants to bang chicks on film, or vice versa, is likely pretty slim. Here's how this goes for the curious: 1.� Girl leaves home moves in with shitty boyfriend, starts to party do drugs, etc. 2.� Shit goes south fast, girl ends up bearing the brunt. 3.� Girl goes to rehab to turn her life around. 4.� Recruiter picks her up as she leaves rehab, because she's given up drugs 'n maybe booze but still wants a taste of the wild life. Rinse and repeat.� You'd be surprised how often this is the story.� You have to find people already on the edge, then you just give them a little nudge and see if they tumble over.� That's the SOP. Two more things about the business of porn (a friend is now making clothes for the Burning Angel bunch) First, most people in porn look like shit w/o makeup on (see instagram post earlier). That's the magic of editing. Second, two so years ago my friend had a booth at San Diego Comic Con and this really foul-mouthed big Asian chick rolls up and starts asking him why he's got no merch for the large ladies. Anyhow they get to jawing and she let's it slip that she works in porn, but he doesn't follow up. Next day, she rolls up again to buy something and he's like this, "So you work in porn?" "Yeah" "So what do you?" "What do you think I do mother-fucker? I'm Asian. I edit it!"

Though seems reasonable that they get people who where hooked on drugs, and might even of stripped done prostitution and stuff before porn or whatever.

Plenty of people with good jobs barely afford 1 bedroom apartments. I find it a soul-sucking place when visiting for very long, which is why I don't. Most of the porn industry is going to leave there anyhow in the next couple years. A lot has already shifted to miami with that condom law they passed that the AHF was pushing.

So I ask you for some evidence to verify what you're claiming and you call me a corporate tool? That's cool. It doesn't lend you credence, though, but it does answer my question. Ok, no problem.

My natural response is just of one of belligerence. We did have a porn cast stop in for lunch once. They all had big 70's haircuts and pimp clothing. It was too cliche and kind of funny. The cute Spanish hostess ran up to me and said "those people are in my porn video! I know it! How do ask them if they are porn stars without being rude?" I said "just ask them if they are actors." She did, and one of the women said "Huh. Yeah, I guess so."
