"We realize this will impact your ability to contact a live support agent, however by making this change we will be able to provide you with the best possible customer service"

you must not have read that thread. Not being there to respond will allow them to provide the best possible customer service.

At least one department head realised that with their current employee pool, the best service is no service.

Nothing to see here. Just another move that was planned a long time ago after having a very good year.

Yep.

Not getting any service at all is better than waiting 20 minutes to have them not help you.

Awesome, No support during my peak play hours.

Good thing I don't really play these days.

Well Today I called a GM... Answer time 6 Minutes, Two more minutes to have the problem solved.
( Yes the problem was actually solved... but well it's the bugged shrine door in VON1, I managed to enter before killing all the trolls and was stuck inside once they were all dead... I needed a teleport out )

Now if you look at the Oracle Graphs, you'll notice that the 2AM to 7AM EST is the low population time, as I've' said numerous time that's the best time to do maintenance... And the corollary is that it's also the time where you can also cut staff expenses.

Nope, since it wouldn't move me... I wasn't stuck... I was locked in a room closed by a door that doesn't have any lever due to a well known and documented bug.

This is actually quite helpful. In the past we would discuss whether to wait 30 minutes for a GM or reset the dungeon - and then reset the dungeon.

Now we save ourselves a few seconds and just reset the dungeon.

Maj - all going to plan? Or are you starting to get worried now?

Stuck moves you. I cannot remember the quest, maybe house of chains. We entered a room and I closed the secret door...could not get out.
/stuck and teleported me out.

Low population time should not equal no service at all.
Low pop time = prime time for some areas outside the centre of the universe (US).

I understand the cost cutting, but it should be a proportional response.  Reduced numbers in low time (eg. 1 GM/3 servers or such), so at least some urgent stuff can still get sorted.  Easy fixes like your VON1 issue can still be resolved.

CS is Turbine's weakest link, and now they're reducing it.  Go figure.

Yup, let's hope they don't have another great year or there won't be anyone left to turn out the lights!

That's just sad...

Who makes these statements?

It'd be awesome to hear the person who made this wriggle out of "We realize this will impact your ability to contact a live support agent, however by making this change we will be able to provide you with the best possible customer service." How. The. Fuck. Will they provide you with the best possible customer servuce if you can't contact a live support agent? Contact a dead support agent? Sunnuvabitch.

What server is everyone on SWTOR on?

I has a confuse.

For those new to the life of Tere, I used to be an expat wife in Tokyo, which is how I got involved with this silly game in the first place.

In that world, maintenence folk clocked in at what would be fondly talked about as lag o clock.... It is about 7.30 pm Sydney time IIRC.

As far as I see the WB over Turbine business plan is fairly clear.

A. There seem to be NO money invested into marketing / increasing player base atm.

B. The options being offered in the store and via promotion seem to promote existing players getting a quick yet expensive path to reach their goals or desires.

C. Development staff has been cut.  New content seems to be just rehashing the existing content into epic levels.  Instead of new packs we are getting new "expansions" that have to be purchased with real cash.

D. Support staff is being cut.  There's not many business that expect to remain in a customer service market without, well, customer service.

The goal I see is to squeeze as much cash as possible from the remaining player base while keeping operating costs to the lowest levels this side of complete failure.  Nothing survives by feeding on itself for long.
