Is it as bad or even worse than previous installments like awesomium, is it bad for performance, loads lots of data in the background or even a potential security risk?

Dude do you think i'll read every fucking Spam-thread at this forum? there is no thread that has Alkami in it. You think I read 10 pages of spam-infested threads where you take yourself serious and write pages of tech-BS that's nobody interested in without getting to the point? If you were so smart you'd make a step-by-step-guide for dummies about what it does and how to disable it. But I know that's impossible.

It took 5 minutes for the firewall permission to actually pop up, whereas every other program that wants firewall permission pops up instantly.

So I make a post on the ddo fb page about this and someone replies:

'maybe your pc needs upgraded. not trying to be harsh or anything but it took me about 5 seconds to see the pop up to allow or block. i allowed. downloaded everything in about 20 min's.'

To bring you up to speed quickly, Akamai Netsession is a 3rd party download expediter.  It can use P2P to do this, but Cordo has stated that this is disabled, so it currently is just a way for Turbine to take the load off their servers for the expected deluge of U21 downloads.
The main issue that the non-tinfoil hat brigade have is that it leaves a process running even after DDO is closed, which is sloppy coding and poor etiquette.
Now you are up to speed, you can jump onto the 384 threads here and in the mother forums and form your own view on whether this is:
(A) the end of civilisation as we know it; or
(B) a storm in an irrelevant teacup; or
(C) something in between these two extremes.
