A question that I would love to ask but I know that I'll never get an answer is, is this just an attempt to outsource DDO updates because they've now lost staff?

What about if we do a deal: if you use steam you don't have to have this Akamai on your machine?

You're in the vault. You're either joking or you should be grateful that the topic hasn't moved on to the circumcision methods of constipated squirrels or an equivalent topic.

I've been here long enough to know there is nothing to be expected from this forum.

Wonder if that list will expand now that it is used for the entire game instead of just Lamma.

Depending on lead time for that peerblock blacklist, wonder if it only just now reflects when akamai hit lammaland.

We have no proof it's Lammania... Though all the hints points towards that, I couldn't find where I put L-Space IP.

Now the fun thing is that if it's true it just kills the game for those that have it... as 9004:UDP is one of the possible traffic flow once you are beyond character selection.

I have the IP written down someplace, but can't find it either.

What is sad though, the Vault actually has less drama than the motherforums about this and slightly more productive discussion.

Not all ISP throttle P2P in canada but many do, I know Bell canada does throttle p2p down to 30kb/s or so. Cogeco cable on the other hand doesn't at all.

Btw Bell does bloody suck arse!

Bell Canada is one of their customers...

Huge issue at the moment for servers that block p2p connections. Love near a campus and all my buddies that play using a connection on campus or in dorms can't connect anymore because of this.
OUtside campus with TWC I dont see any throttling, but then again I cough up extra not to - not sure if its a win - feels like im getting bent over more often than not from cable co.

ISP's in Canada purposely throttle usage to known peer to peer hosts. This explains my lag now

Same for many large scale ISPs in the UK.

Yeah, I think it's hitting me (I'm on BT) - keep getting weird spikes in lag. Bit annoying.

I'm seeing the same spikes though, and I'm with an ISP that explicitly does NOT throttle peer-to-peer traffic.
