Somebody want's a 3 month vacation...
I had a couple rather astonishing experiences and chats in DDO world today that blew my mind, allow me to share my take-away from them:
The only way that you can cop a Ban these days is through posting shit. You have to lay your own wang out on the internet saying "hey hey I'm duper!!" and even then its only cordovain who smacks it.
If you are in-game xpl'ing you are sweet, nothing to worry about, shocking yes, but true. Fact is Turbine is not, I repeat is not searching inventories, bags, or anything such thing to catch dupers. They are also not backtrailing AH or ASAH sales to the rather flagrant cunts who dropped 1k of scales on the ASAH. In some cases ingame GM's are removing the items from the ASAH if there is a complaint, but not all, otherwise that is it, no duper hunt. They are still whipping out the Banhammer for behavior crimes if folks get reported for hate, spam, hassle, etc... but otherwise dupers should feel free to rejoice that they are taking pass.
It would appear that much like a cuckold who still loves their spouse, Turby knows that dupers are friggen EVERYWHERE, and can't live without them (or their money at least). They know that there is a large percentage of dupers in the player base, they know that the majority of high end Guilds advocate, or at least accept duping, they know they have dupers on the players council. They know. They are not entirely laying down mind you, they will attempt to close anything they can down as fast as possible but they are not going to waste limited manpower chasing what has gotten out at risk of losing revenue. The plan is to try and get ahead of any exploits and limit the scale, which to me is... well it's adorable.
So, for the self-hating White Spites who duped and then posted huge stacks of scales hoping to bring heat down on us little scoundrels, guess what? you're fucked, turbine doesn't care, and you know what else? you're a dirty fucking duper now !!!!
No idea how long this blind eye policy (yes, I said policy) is expected to run, at least a few weeks, beyond that fingers crossed.
So what is the dark side of this sunny day? well that is where I started, dumb asses posting.
Turbine is very very unhappy with anyone who claims, praises, acknowledges, mentions, exploits, especially duping on the forums. So currently any showboat or attention whore is going to get a quick game of whack-a-mole with Jerry-the-hut when they do it.
Which really is fine with me, maybe it will clean out the gene pool.
