Diablo III w/expansion nao?

So, post-ah debacle and WITH the expansion (if anyone has it), how is Diablo III now?

I was reading around on their forums and the general feeling is that it's a totally improved game now?

My wife REALLY likes the expansion. She says it's almost like a different, better game.

THAT's what seemed to be a recurring theme - almost verbatim.

So it's a repetitive dungeon crawler hack n slash with gear progression as end-game?

And I'm not bad-mouthing that genre - sometimes that's what ya wanna do Cheesy

Their so called Loot 2.0 really makes the game more fun for casual gamers I think. You get loot with stats that fit the class you are playing at the moment. And even on normal you can find legendary items now at a decent rate.

The new mystic(crafting npc) allows you do reroll one of the echantments of an item, so if only one thing is wrong on an item you can make it your perfect item you were looking for.
And for the styles you can change the appearance of an item to each other item you already found for that slot. You can even make yourself look like you would have only legendary items, even if everything is just random drops.

And I think the adventure mode makes it a bit more interestig instead of just running the whole compaign over and over again. Unless you are farming only on 1-2 spots anyways because you want max exp or drops.

All skills got reworked and many runes got replaces by new ones. So now you can make a frost orb sorc like in D2.

So if you have the game and didn't play it for some time, even if you don't buy the expansion the game should be fun again for 1-2 weeks, depending how many different classes you like to play or how much fun you have in farming better gear.

The expansion itself... they managed to have it ready 1-2 weeks before the release so that there were  no big problems on release day.
Not much to say about it, if you like the story depends on personal opinion anyways. Apart from that usual diablo/blizzard quality of a game.

Ohhh, thanks for that.

Still not sure if I wanna invest 2x $40 (if I buy, i want the expansion, for sure), but its more attractive now than during that debacle of a rollout.

OMG you just gave me a nostalgia woody mentioning "frost orb sorc"!  Had forgotten those Cheesy

At least the week before the expansion you could get the base game for only 20€. Guess they had a similar promotion for america.

But I am very surprised the base game isn't down to 20 €/$ permanent price already.

And about the frost orb sorc... you won't be able to spam as much orbs as in D2, unless you tuned your gear for that.
But the Spell behaves similar to D2, still best to get the orc exploding right behind the mob you want the most damage on. ^^

The base game has been $20 like every other week, it shouldn't be hard to get it for $20 even if you have to wait a week or two.

Looks like Battle.net has the $60 expansion bundle if you put DIII in your cart, if anyone is looking to pick up the $60 package.

And don't forget to check amazon. At least for me it's cheaper to buy it on amazon than on the official blizzard store.

Maybe other online shops or game stores have even better prices.

I played Path of Exile for a few hours. It was good but no real draw for me to continue playing it.

As soon as I saw the trailer for the Diablo III expansion.... instant draw. I haven't played a Diablo game in years. Its about time to.

DIII on Amazon is $35+$40 = $75... that's not cheaper than $60 on battle.net. Unless you mean just the expansion, then yes, it's like $1.50 cheaper, yay?

That's why I said 'at least for me it's cheaper'. Since I am from europe I have to pay 1:1 us dollar to euro conversion in the blizzard store but most local stores have better deals.

Diablo 3 in the blizzard store is 39€ but amazon is selling for 25€. Expansion is 5€ cheaper at amazon compared to the blizzard store.
And some weeks ago they were offering me a deal to buy d3+expansion for around 40€. But I saw this offer too late, already had my expansion.

Living in New Zealand with little lag, can confirm POE is still better.

You're agreeing with him. IIRC the POE servers are in your neck of the woods, the lag in NA is terrible - something we're not used to.

They're hosted in aus.

I think poe is the better game of the two, but its definately better when theres 20ms pings in poe and 280ms pings in d3

She stayed with the game for a long time but it eventually got to her. Besides, the good things in the DIII expansion made it much easier to leave PoE.

The expansion made D3 into a decent game.

Yeah it got better because it was crap before.
You used to loot thousands of useless junk you sold to buy half decent gear on the AH. Now you can find half decent gear by yourself in a matter of hours.

It's not a good game but it became less of a waste of time.

That's technically the patch, not the expansion.
