My first reaction was "wtf - that's chump change"... then I multiplied times active users .... ohhhhhhhhh, THAT's how they stay profitable.

inorite - I didn't do the research on the games, but GW2 is impressive, considering there's no sub.

That means there's a shitton of people who buy... weapon skins.  I don't know if that's an encouraging commentary on humans or not.  Huh

ddo just does not have the player base to be supported by costmetics.

yup, that's how thing works...

DDO ARPU is probably higher than what is in the article ( somewhere around $5 I guess ).
multiply it by 20K ( you know The Wild Assed Number )  that's $100K a month...
that's $1.2M a year...

Now a small change in the ARPU will have a huge impact on the final revenue.

They were never allowed to. The system we got was one size fits all (in a game based on a system that had the most customisable characters ever). We instead got XP and other rubbish like it that now the game gets built around.

Don't worry though, the DDO store is for convenience only.

Well, the thing that enrages me more...if there is such a bunch of people throwing money away, why cannot I invent some way of getting some, if I consider myself intelligent, instead of working my ass off.

You know, as a VIP you have 500 TP to waste on stuff each month...

And I'm not even talking of all those European Accounts that have ( had ) 5K TP ( on top if VIP ) to waste on stuff.
Some of us didn't have to cater for altaholism ( and buy char slots )... After having spent it on the important things you start to spend it on the unimportant ones... Beside Pets are cute... and if you're a Wolf Druid you can almost be your own wolfpack with your pet and the cosmetic one.
