I'm about to TR my bard and I'm doing research.  I've recently seen conflicting information about how passive past life feats work.  It's leading me to believe that only your first life and your current life matter for past lives, but I was previously under the impression that all past lives added together.  Which is true?

Also, this will be my first TR for this character (so only average to decent gear as of now) and my schedule allows for me to play much more often than good groups allow.  What is currently the best class combination for soloing the game without amazing gear?  Thus far I've narrowed it down to, "not archer bard" and "not barbarian of any type".

Every passive past life stacks up to 3 times per past life type.  If you Heroic TR, then you can take the active past life feat.  There aren't too many active past life feats worth taking, but there are a few that are nice.

Soloing means someone that can self heal.  It's tough to beat Warforged Wizard or Sorcerer for that.

Gear doesn't matter all that much except for having some of the nice things at a few levels.  Colonscope gear.  Shroud gear.  Heavy fortification.    Some Cannith crafted twink gear (feather falling, melee alacrity +10 if you're melee, +DC if you're a caster).  Pale Lavendar Ioun Stone.  Vibrant Purple Ioun Stone.

Wouldn't sorcerers or wizards run out of spell points too often early on without top end gear?

Don't turn on Empower or Maximize = Infinite spell points.

With the new changes to spell power, both Empower and Maximize aren't really needed/appropriate in a lot of quests.

Now, once you actually do get infinite spell points for real (Torc + Concordant Opposition), you can turn both on and nuke with abandon, but you'll still have plenty of power even without the metamagic.

Maximize by itself with some discount items/enhancements will also be nice once you invest in it - especially for some specific spells like Wall of Fire.  As nice as Wall of Fire is, though, I still end up using Fireball/Lightning Bolt for most of my nuking because they're just so damn cheap and easy.

I'd add 2 levels of rogue on a wiz, specially if you are soloing and inted to tr anyway. beeing able to do traps + evasion goes a long way

Turn on all the Metas you can for SLAs as the metas won't cost them any extra spell points.

You can melee on any class at least until level 5 (I'd say more like 8-10 with a decent weapon and a good +STR item).

Especially now with Deadly and Accuracy gear, everyone can be at the very least a mediocre fighter.

Then you get better spells and start nuking.

I started as bard.  This character was never intended to be TR'd, but things have changed.

Take 'sonic blast' - it's the best first level spell for sorcs/wiz. Then take max and emp as soon as you can and turn them on for all your SLAs. No extra mana for that - turn max/emp off for sonic blast.

You'll be able to stun everything and one shot them with the SLAs. I usually run an air sorc, so I stun then shocking touch sla them - it's a one shot until around lvl 7 if I remember correctly (starts being a bit iffy on hobgoblins in House P).

I've never done the master's touch thing - I know, I'm doing it wrong - but I like to run arcanes as casters... and it got crazy easy since the new enchancement pass.

Mind you, with Eldritch Knight, I bet master's touch works better than ever to level arcanes.

Ok, so one last question... does anyone have a Khyber guild above level 90 or so that I can throw my new TR in for the ship buffs?
