Ok, that might be true but that doesn't answer the question of: if you are going to close them why is it not listed in the guidelines that they are not allowed?

And frankly I find this idea a little "thought police" ish. You close a perfectly calm thread because someone might say something against the rules? Someone might say something against the rules in any thread on the forums... O.o

Since when has HAL been against thought police?

Shall we celebrate the Paladin's new ability to recognize twisted Turbine logic?

Can't expect people to find both lists and follow it.

This is incorrect. The Guidelines are the guidelines, there are no "hidden" rules. If you feel like there is an action that we take that needs to be more explicitly called out, we can consider that.

Originally, I too felt that it was worthwhile to explicitly explain why we close Goodbye threads in the Community Guidelines, but the community convinced me to remove that section from the proposed rule changes, and to address the issue using already-existing guidelines (typically trolling, fighting, harassment, discussing moderation, fabricated information - aka - people claiming to quit who actually do not, etc.) Since goodbye threads quickly devolve into fighting, insults, and abuse, it is best to close them after wishing the OP the best in the future.

I am saying the way you have it formatted, in the thread I quoted, not in the "Official" guidelines, 23 and 24 are not designated as "only well needed". You might know that in your head or said in in some other paragraph in a clarification post in another place, but as a person who comes here, quite possibly new, they see that there are TWO line-items left off the "Official Guidelines". They don't know why, they won't have any way to know until something like this occurs. Obviously this confusion is irritating you due to the rather abrasive response of yours earlier in this thread. Maybe making the Guidelines that appear in the header and those in the post linked match will solve the any future headaches you might have to deal with when this inevitably comes up.

But that's up to you. But I don't think people appreciate abrasive responses when the info out there is confusing and they are hoping to get clarification. (And it is as evident by the numerous thread and posts about it, no matter what you personally think).

It's still going ... and HAL is being out paladined

It's oddly unsatisfying.

He's like a fat kid at the playground asking the class bully why he picks on people. Thinking he is safe because he is being polite ... meanwhile the crowd gathers, snickering.

I actually feel bad for the guy. He isn't even smart enough to see what's coming.

Well Cordo got snarky with Hal and Hal got snarky right back.

Color me shocked.

HAL's response to Cordo

In your previous posts you didn't supply the specific information I was looking for. Now that you have it doesn't address the concern but at least I have an answer, thank you.

Sorry you seem to be upset by my desire to clarify the guidelines. I would think you would be happy about it.

I will also keep in mind that non-Turbine employees' answers are considered equal to yours.

Just wanted to point out that it is also their game. By your logic there is no point to discussing anything you might disagree with in the game because its their game and they will do whatever they want with it.

The guy (HAL) is just being a fuckwit really.

It's assholes like him that required our PnP games to institute General Rule #1:  What the DM says goes.

For a bit it was funny in that thread now it's just fucking pathetic.
