It's fun, I miss it. But ESO made me realize how pointless gaming is - and that is both freeing (I have a real life that needs working on) and shitty (I miss the ultimate escapism DDO was for me).

DDO used to be about grouping and having fun running up different builds with friends. Over the years, Turbine changed that and now we have an abomination that is nothing more then a SOLO, bug filled, laggy, dumbed down, graphical lobby ARPG with an amazing amount of P2W, even by Korean mmo standards.

I think this is right.

As a casual player who does what she wishes with her non TRed main, I have completely ignored epic TR. And given how quickly the keen folk got the shinies from the new raids I have run them once - done the red dragon once, made it in 10 mins to the other one before the PUG rage quit for some reason.

All this leaves me with is irritation I spend TPs on the raid pack. Its so far outside my goals I am not planning to learn and run the thing. I'd rather teach Von 5 to noobs, at least I get XP from it.

The haunted halls and Explorer area is fun though.

Man I'm missing saga xp. I tried to have a Von free day but it's just so easy to jump into a group that's already up and sick of soloing (in LD.  On a sorc). I understand why people take breaks at the moment so am sticking to raiding and a Heroic TR.

There is no end game.  There is no reason to stay beyond level 26 after you've finished s much as you want to do with the two new raids. If you hate TRing and have everything you want what else is there?

I guess it's just life though. We all know that this was never going to be forever.

Is this the point in time where you hang yourself and make a world a better place?

I haven't played DDO now for like over 4 weeks. I've taken 1-month breaks before. But, I think I'm at my longest away from the game since I started. I have to say, the longer it goes, the less I care.

I ended up taking time off because I'm taking some grad classes, my kids started baseball, and I didn't have time.

I kinda miss some people I played with. But, it hasn't got me to log back on. I've thought about it several times. But, then I went and watched an episode of House of Cards.

Is this how never playing again happens?

Same here, but I've been away from it for longer than you.
And I couldn't care less about DDO.

Have you tried a lower difficulty, such as the official forums?

I agree, imo HH is the best quest they've done in years. I just wish they would do more like it

7 years ago i would have said no way i would want to take a break, i was new to mmo's, but love pnp D&D. I struggled through and found a small guild that was active.

3 years ago the guild started taking longer and longer breaks, i still played because i loved the game, i even started pugging, something that scared me, just cause i'm generally shy. but i got through it

1 year ago my guild stopped playing, i am a solo guild now, i still love the game but i have started taking longer and longer breaks, it makes me very sad

This, i love D&D and after 6 years of DDO i love my toons and the friends i made in there.

I just didn't quit yet because my friends. See my guild dying slowly was a big sadness but now the people left are more united than before.

Dear players,

The D&D rules you were familiar with were too simple to understand, so we're continuing our move away from them to needlessly confusing subsystems that will make your play experience less fun and invalidate old builds and loot. We hope you have fun working out what the fuck MRR, PRR, MP, SP, RP, CL, MCL and all the other bullshit we made up whilst drunk means.

Love,

People who don't know how to fix their own mistakes cleanly

Totally agree with you. They've cheapened their own product.

I took off last summer and I have seen my play time wain this year too.  The trend seems to fit.  Take some time off for RL.
