Making two sticks instead of 2 hander for any arcane that might care about spell pen is probably the dumbest advice you can give. Good job.

3 or 4 random stick or 7 Ideals is enough.
For levelling ( EE drow ) if you don't already have 6 -9 spell pen from past lives, you can twist Echoes of the Arcane, or spell pen from Magister. Or be in Magister.
There is also 3 spell pen in Sunelf/Elf racial tree.

Spell pen is not a big deal at cap.

Anyway, different angles and different historical meanings or not, the symbol almost universally means something very different now, and the meaning that people perceive is the one that counts. Think of it like growing a Hitler mustache. Even if you tell people it's actually a Charlie Chaplin mustache, it doesn't really fly.
