Did anyone else watch the Twitch.tv U22 thing?

It's pretty long (48 minutes) and I wasn't paying full attention (it was on a second monitor while I was playing DDO) but there was some hilarity to be had and (unsurprisingly) little in the way of real info to be had.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aAj0mWSxpLc

My favourite part was that almost any time someone asked a question the answer always started with "I believe so..." or "I think so..." or "It should..." which leads me to believe that they have no fucking idea what stuff actually does, just what it's SUPPOSED to do. It did not inspire much confidence.

Also, they kept reiterating over and over and over and over and over that they were playing on an old "build" of the update. Even older than the most recent Lamannia build. What the actual fuck. If "This has actually been fixed in the new build" why the fuck aren't you previewing that build? Excuses excuses excuses! I'm excited to see that the new guild buffs will probably come to the live servers with the same icon - STR shrine.

And watching Cordovan die (even whilst invincible via dev_mode) was quite entertaining. He kept screwing up dev commands and getting stuck. For a while he was invisible and unable to interact with anything and couldn't figure out how to get out of it.

A few things I gleaned that I'm not sure were mentioned anywhere else
  • There is no longer a guild level restriction on ships purchased with Astral Shards.
  • Guilds can purchase ships starting at guild level 10, instead of guild level 20.
  • The update will be out before July 1st (as everyone already assumed)
  • The have no idea if the stuff from guild slots will stack with these new guild amenities. They might not even know that guild slots exist anymore.
  • The current damage that these airships deal is supposed to be toned down for live.
  • DrOctopus was too afraid to go on camera.
  • Steelstar is old as fuck. (Or was it Knockback? I don't remember which one was the old guy.)
  • Vargoulle is pronounced douchetastically.

Looks like a lot of work on new system.

I like the pause in public areas, extended duration.

All that artwork that will never be looked at because "Get All Buffs".

excellent point...all that work for what will be seen maybe once?
or that there are more plans for guild ships, except that this is
turbine and they will not be coming back to guild ships even though
it wasn't finished.

surely 1 quick run through before you go live
would have screened all the pointless moments
where they say its not in this build.

It was a live stream, so it wasn't edited originally. I'm sure they didn't want to spend the time to edit it since only a handful of people will watch it anyway. Besides if they edited out everything that made them look like idiots, the thing would be the introductions and then "thanks for watching, watch our lunch time stream on wednesdays!"

I loved that cordo got caught in the wall of an amenity when he placed it. Also a wall appeared when he placed another amenity.

So no fear even though they fixed it in the updated super special build thats so secrete they couldn't show us I am sure nothings fixed and everythign will be fucked up.

Hey but at least now if you want a tavern environment on your top deck and a vendor it only cost two hook points after U22....unlike now as its so costly only being one.

I watched enough of it to realize that Jerry is so bad at his job, that he has no idea how bad at his job he is.

Technical glitches recurring multiple times on a pr piece like that?

Really?

He must give great head to keep his job.

It was Knockback the old guy. And yes, I had the same feeling as you had with the "I suppose to", "I think so.." shit.

I don't think Update 22 is July 1 btw. I think we have 1-2 more Lamannia weeks so most likely mid June. He actually said that it is going to be in June.

I think we just saw the whole DDO Crew in one video with the exception of MajMal. Was it all planned? Or wasn't it? Stay tuned

Wow, that was craptastic.
They call that PR?
Does that make you want to play the game?
Does that make you look fwd to U22?

Why publish something that appallingly unprofessional?
Benefits of live webcams I guess?
The irony is that MajMal's background is in video prodn.  Why don't they use those skills?

Next time boys - pre-record and edit heavily.
Hell, pay some of your PC members to play instead and spare yourselves the embarrassment.

I think it was probably planned.

Because they're experts.

The only folks remaining on the ddo team are the bottom of the barrel at turbine. They actually think they are gods gift to ddo and can do no wrong. Hence, why they have such an attitude towards their players and their game.

Jerry spoke on the topic of his skill as a player not too long ago:

Quote:
I will say that I've never claimed to be the best of the best player, although I believe I fall squarely into the "okay and sometimes quite good" group. It's not as easy as you think to run a quest while livestreaming, keeping an eye on chat, and talking about whatever subject is being discussed. I'm getting better at it, but please forgive the occasional brain-dead in-game moment.

In particular, it's important to remember that the character I used this past week had been largely parked since November of 2010, with the occasional "bring out of retirement" to mostly check something out on the live servers (enhancement overhaul, gear change, etc.) Or maybe a nekkid TS run. Or the occasional run with close friends. And the once or twice a year random PUG or whatever (I last ran ToD on him, based on the state of my gear during Wednesday's stream.) I had on the Boots of Anchoring, and it was interfering with my ability to caste Haste on myself, until I figured out I had the boots on. Also, I have no Jump. I had 86 Jump pots, but didn't see it in my wall of hotbars immediately.

I play often enough to not consider myself rusty. If that means someone's going to think I'm simply bad; well, whatever.

I will concede that it isn't easy to split attention between the game and external tasks, but that doesn't address the sloppy state of the characters he uses for these events.

He may or may not be a bad player, but it's clear that he can't be bothered to put 30 minutes into preparing his characters for the stream events, and that's inexcusable.

This kind of dismissive attitude toward representing the product is harmful.

Take a little pride in yourself and the game, Jerry.
