Ya know, I don't care what they personally look like or that they aren't uber players. I'd prefer they be uber devs than players. I know Jerry isn't a dev, but he's not good at PR either. Find someone who is.
To my mind, the criticisms are validly directed against poor presentation of their product.
The appearance of "we're running it from mum's garage" does not make me want to pull out my Credit card.
The best suggestions here are:
1. Be prepared. Have the character/gear/hires that you need to do a good demo.
2. Do a dry run of whatever you plan to present, so you don't look stupid or spend time flaffing around. Just be competent/familiar with it.
3. Pick content that showcases what you're trying to demo. Use the best playable version. Don't use an Alpha version of code for an almost released product - it doesn't promote confidence at all.
4. Any PR material should aim to be professional.
I understand some off-the-cuff live material can be fun, but I just don't think Jerry is the man to do it.
What we just saw came across as incompetent, incomplete and ill-prepared. SNAFU for Turdbine unfortunately.
