So Augments are the only new loot we will see? Are those any good?

For The cove that will be triggered right after U23. And I'm not sure if there's going to be more stuff than Augments...
We ( the PC ) did give the Devs some ideas of things to add ( as Doubloon sinks ) that required almost no work ( just to add them to the barter box ).

Supposedly there wasn't enough time to make all the items for Epic Orchards and Cove at the same time. Thus the Augments as stopgap.

I was under the impression that they are not planning to extend the levels on the Cove items. That the augments are what we're gonna get. Did I get this wrong?

I know they're stretched on resources, but you have to ask yourself - how long does it take to make some themed CC items?
I mean really.....
Even some variations on the existing ones would be a starting point?
Design and balancing - 1 day workshop?
Artwork - a few days.
Coding - a few days.
Testing - n/a (do that on Live).

I think they're feeding you and us some BS.
Or they're incompetent.  You choose.
Huh

That's is correct for the first cove which will happen after update 23.
For the the other coves in the future, I don't know.

Since you can do it check the thread... it wasn't my impression from what what Steelstar wrote in Post #22 of the thread.
The door is not closed for a full update to 28 of all the cove items.

Yes.

It would be really nice to see an upgrade to those items, would give me a reason to run Cove again, even though IIRC the stuff is now all BTC - would be awesome if they reverted to BTA.

Dear players,

The D&D rules you were familiar with were too simple to understand, so we're continuing our move away from them to needlessly confusing subsystems that will make your play experience less fun and invalidate old builds and loot. We hope you have fun working out what the fuck MRR, PRR, MP, SP, RP, CL, MCL and all the other bullshit we made up whilst drunk means.

Love,

People who don't know how to fix their own mistakes cleanly

Turdbin, keep changing the DDO rules, because McDonalds sold over 200 billion hamburgers by changing the recipe for their Special Sauce every couple of months to keep interest up.

Monk Bane ~ creates an aura with a 10' radius in which any mob, npc or pc with monk levels must make a dex save or trip every 2 secs while in the aura.  Take 3d20 falling damage every trip.

Ok, but that is making assumptions based of something that was never said. I am very much against doing such, because that is creating false pretenses.

No, they have not said that the Cove items will never be updated. But they haven't either promised to do so in any near future, if at all. Or am I wrong?

We will see, they have been warned enough that the Augments are not what people expect, and that they are going to take a lot of heat from the community if they don't make it clear that it's just a stopgap while they take their time to do something else with Cove Items upgraded to LVL28+

Yeah, a stopgap. Because it's so fucking hard to upgrade some cove loot from 20 to 24 and to 28. You have 3 months from now (I suspect next Cove will be in september), they will either give us upgraded loot or they are going to have tons of people pissed, for the 213541545th time.

Can't be that hard to upgrade cove items.  Take the lvl 20 item, copy the file, add +1 to the item enhancement plus an augment slot and there you go, 24th lvl item.  Hell, you could probably write a script to do it for all items at once.

According to them it seems to be harder than that... they can't just copy the items and add things...
( I wish they could, like in the Aurora Toolset )
And basically they will have to recreate from scratch new items for Epic levels.

Now, in all honesty, it sounds like an excuse for not doing anything for the time being.

I've come to the conclusion that the curent crop of Devs in DDO do not want to look at anything from the past.
That means that they do not want to extend on old things ( phat luck here on seeing the two other teleporter options in the 12 to be filled by something ), they do not want to come near any bit of old code ( they fear it might break under their gaze ), and they want to leave a legacy that looks good on their resume ( new system changes ) by eventually scrapping an old half finished system for a new half finished system.
