Books to Read During Loading Screens

I am currently enjoying The Ice Master, a collection of the diaries of the sailors and scientists aboard the Karluk when it got locked fast into the ice, then sunk, while on an arctic expedition. It makes me feel less bad about these load screens.

Yeah, I went from what was actually a pretty decent HDD in my laptop to an SSD.  Loading times reduced from "Finish coffee and make another" - plus or minus a moderately complicated snack - to "Have a quick swig of drink in front of me", plus or minus enough time to reposition my keyboard slightly.

Fuck SI units.

You can also run it off a SD card.  I use a 16gb one in my work laptop.  Patching is slow, but load times improved.

I couldn't believe the load screen differences with my SSD <> HDD.  The game went from 7 minutes from launch to movable in the world, down to 14 seconds.

Probably time to check the temp files, clean the internet files, dump all the junk out of start up. 

My work system is miserable, but I'm all running tSQL, VS and some other stuff on it that is high memory usage, but I'm well under 7.

I recommend The Path to Ascension, fun collection of sci-fi/fantasy short stories. Gotta love that author, not many have heard of him though Sad

Frankly, I didn't see much of a difference in game performance / loading when I switched to SSD.  I didn't really make things better until I replaced my router that was slowly "going south."
