They are both Malphunked features, but take heart knowing that MajMal wanted to go further and have no windows open, or better still, no GUI at all.  You just have a DDO loading screen and sound effects... your imagination does the rest.

The gather button only works once every 90 secs or so.  It is no accident, someone actually wasted their time coding in a timer on the gather button to supposedly make exploiting harder.
And when they came to decide how long the timer should be, they didn't think 5 or 10 secs, they thought 90 secs sounded about right ..... Because they play the game and understand how things work......
