DDO is only 30 years behind Teddy Ruxpin. Discuss.

Boil, pluck, bake at 350 for 1 hour.  Stuff with breading.  Garnish with butter and herbs.

To be honest DDO has taken multiple jumps over the shark in the last few years, but I've been either ignoring them or telling myself "it was only a little shark" this whole time.

The talking parrot, there's no hiding it.  This is the one that made it perfectly clear the game has now jumped the shark all the way.  Talking cosmetic pets.........

Lag is at an all-time high,

Exploiting is rampant,

Their fixes to the exploits only make duping easier,

They just pulled one of the most obvious money-grabs in the form of guild ships since MotUD,

And now when I run through the harbor I get to hear an impossible to mute grade-school quality voice actor try to pull some bullshit pirate's parrot dialog.

This is more like the shark jumping over the Fonz while wearing a top hat and singing "Over the Rainbow".

MotU actually had stuff going for it. Shadowfail was the obvious cash-grab.

^ Maybe that's just WHY they made it... it's actually a window that DMs can take control over to check up on you.

AND, would that not explain the LAG?!?!?!? - no shut up, We pay for lag. lag is a feature of the game. There would be no game sans lag.....

I like the parrot. It's another DDO store item which is going to get Turbine money without giving any benefits at all. And if you don't like the parrot you just don't buy it.

I see the problem with all the talking, especially with several players having one, but let's see how bad that really is in 1-2 weeks when the parrot is not new anymore and many players going to use their other cosmetic pets again.

And since the pets can be at different positions ingame for different players under some circumstances I'd say the code for the positioning of the pets might be one of the things turbine has done right -> not using any network traffic for handling the position of the pets. That's why I doubt that they are causing any noticable lag/delay in raids even if some players are some kind of crusade to make all pets disappear.

All the players using voice chat to have some shit chat while running quests or raids cause much more network traffic...

Just see the positive side... money for turbine without introducing another pay to win item, which seems to be a major problem for some players.

Yea, but it was a cash grab more than shadowfail, because without shadowfail you can still be competent.
Without destinies you are crap.

Yes, epic destiny is now a paywall to compete in epics. I still think Shadowfail was the blatant cash-grab. It was obviously just two vaguely related adventure packs that didn't deserve to be called an expansion, but was labeled as such anyway because Turbine idiots were looking for shortsighted profit.

Coming soon to the DDO store - parrot mute trinket to block out parrot sounds.  Only 650 turbine points and includes your own Richard Simmons companion who'll shout motivations at you while you quest.

Turbine policy - glitches and poor coding resulting in interference of your game play or enjoyment will be ignored.  Glitches or poor coding on the developers side that at all benefit your game play or enjoyment will result in your character being banned and/or items from your inventory deleted.  Please report all bugs via our bug report...when it works.

It is expensive as fuck, reason why I didnt buy it and why I refuse to buy it.
But you dont lose anything by not buying it.
If you dont buy motu and destinies, you will have hard time in epics, probably will think of not playing.

I still dont understand how people didnt learn not to pre order stuff, then when they pre order, they bitch and moan about it.

I'm one of those guys that preorders and buys most of the stuff... but then, DDO is a hobby of mine that I genuinely enjoy. Over the years, I've probably spent $600 or so on DDO. To me, that isn't bad for a 'hobby'. Compare that to MTG, which has run me thousands... Warhammer, another $500 or so, etc. it isn't bad at $100 a year. That's 4 movies a year with how much movies cost where I live, with a popcorn...

I'm taking a bit of a break from ddo atm though, and playing ESO and Dungeon Keeper 2, among some steam games as well. When I get back on DDO, I think I will buy the talking parrot as well, because... it amuses me.

If you pre-ordered it and bought the 50$ expansion (think it was 50$), without legendary upgrade anyway, you got all 4 Iconics with it.

FTFY

Destinies can be bought seperately. MotU is unnecessary.

I would have thought the clearest way for Turbine to show that is to sell a shark companion that you could jump over.... No?   Tongue

What Lag ? I didn't notice any more lag than usual... and most of it comes from my PCI-E 1.2 interface... I can't handle the bandwidth needed by the graphic card.

No no, it would be a Shark companion which you can use the /hump command on. He said "jump the shark," not "Jump over the shark."
