So how's your lag?

I'm just asking because I'm getting a lot more 2-3 sec latency spikes, seemingly at random, had a lovely couple of lag stuttering Deathwyrms today, and have lost connection to the sever completely 3 or 4 times over the last couple of days. Not changed anything at my end as far as I'm aware.

Anyone else having these issues?

You are not alone.

I'm pretty sure its not lag though.  I am reliably informed there is no such thing as 'lag' in DDO.  I think you will find that 'a wizard did it' is a far more likely explanation than something as mundane as latency or machine performance.

In this case I suspect we have actually uncovered the back story for a future update that has been leaking into live for years now.  From my observations there appears to be a cabal of chaotic evil wizards following our every move and casting Stop Time and Phase Door with increasing regularity.  I'm not sure where Turbine will be going with this plot line, but suspect it will be revealed soon as with each update more evidence of these wizards work becomes apparent.

I am not technical - is this about right for the method?

Been having stutter lag and freezes a lot more than usual. I'd say at least every time I play I freeze once for over 10 seconds.

My lag?

Steady as a rock at 30-40 ms since I upgraded my internet service 6 months ago.

I assume when people complain of constant lag that it is either crappy hardware, crappy ISP, or crappy geography.

It looks like it...

open a command prompt ( cmd )
type tracert 74.201.106.64 ( for example, change the IP for the appropriate server )

and wait for the result.

most of the ppl i run with have fast internet,and a high end pc.and we still get server lag
