Dupe all you want, but then dont QQ about dead servers and 0 lfms cos no new player in his right mind would stick to the game when he realizes how much exploiting is going on.

Really? I mean, really?  You think it's the exploits turning people away?

K, picture this.  Pretend you're a new player.  Even though this is an old game, you decide to give DDO a try.  You D/L the game, fire it up and... get the red star of death and time out.  Great first impression.   Do I need to go any further down the list of annoyances before we even begin to discuss whether exploits hurt the population of the servers?

WoW is the most populated game that exists, I guess there's no exploiting going on over there. Roll Eyes

Duping is bad. That's why I buy all my stuff off of the AH, because Cordo personally inspects each listing to ensure that only legitimate goods are for sale.  Cool

Family, Country, and the US stock market. Although, in a pinch, any convertible currency or liquid asset will do.

You are right, there are other things that can turn new players away too and they are likely to encounter those much faster than the duping exploits.

Thing is that once you know that there are ways to dupe stuff you wont even consider buying things other than adventure packs from the store.

Who would give 50$ that get me weed for a week for something that other ppl create out of thin air en masse?

Personaly i came back to the game after a long break and i was all over getting one ottos box to help me finish this life  but guess what?
Reading the motherboards and the forums here was a big turn off from buying that box when i know other ppl got countless of them for free.

Btw i couldnt care less if ppl dupe the way to completionist as it doestn really affect me personaly and im also not a newb, i know what i like about this game and why i play it. But there is no way i'd give real money for something that can be gotten for free.

As a new player you dont even need anything, you want to play the game, and turbine is making that hard.

In reference the the thread on the mobo: You have got to be kidding me with the LotR ref on a DnD forum. Should get Frodo to throw him/her into the fires of Mt Doom next.

the LotR ref on a DnD forum..

That makes me think : did our bethren in LoTRO test all our tricks ?

Because since the game engine is the same and a good portion of the gamelogic is identical, it would be safe to assume that what is possible in DDO is also possible in LoTRO.

just sayin'  Roll Eyes

This should encourage me to give it a try. It's too bad Middle Earth is such a stupid world. Maybe if I were a linguist.
