Is anyone so retarded to believe that duping is not wai? What do you think that 28 level epic wizards in dnd lore are not able to duplicate items using high arcana? At that level you are a god and you can create whole demiplanes to live on. not just a simple stupid scale..

SO DUPE!!! I SAY DUPEEEEE!!!!!! THIS IS WAIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII

That has a cost. Duping does not.

Also my Barbarian can dupe too. Explain that with lore.  Roll Eyes

You may be right though. It's been around so long that it must be WAI, or they really are inept.  Huh

about barbarian, you can roleplay it. At 28 lvl you have become so powerfull that have drawn the attention of your god/primordial elementals/whatever and those gods/spirits of battle and rage grand you rewards for fighting for them, any material items you want.

The gods rewarding you idea would also be applicable to every other class except rogues.

Rogues just take the stuff, hence they magically appear in our inventories.

Yes, there is no pick pocket skill in ddo so if you like to roleplay you can use the "feature" to emulate it.

You are inside the bank waiting for the unsuspected victim.

As soon as someone approach make a skill check (/roll d20 and just pretend you have put ranks on pick pockets at every level and add dex modifier) and if you succeed proceed with the "feature" Then you can roleplay alone or with your static group that you stole this item from that person!

Regardless of the whys and wherefores duping and the deep need to dupe and therefore "shortcut" indicates a lack of mental fortitude that we all succumb to in some shape or fashion from time to time.

It is quite entertaining watching people scramble to justify inquire and contribute.

I don't care if you do it like I don't care if people smoke bath salts.   As long as you arn't getting naked and trying to eat my face...

Duping not WAI?

Oh!  From Turbine's POV.  I getcha now.

Well, of course not.

Turbine has a business strategy that encourages P2W and gets people to pay for poorly described virtual items which have really shitty conditions placed on them, like BtC.

The new customer gets his or her first free taste of P2W in Korthos when he gets to buy his first sibarys cake for 5tp (that came free).

Storage a problem?  You can buy more!
When you out grow the large bag, you'll find you can't upgrade you can only buy newer and bigger.  But what happens to the old product?  That character will never use it again, but can you give it to an alt who can use it?  No.
The only thing you can do is destroy this digital representation of time/effort/money, or it will clog up your inventory and be a burden.

They have all kinds of products like this.

They named their game DDO Unlimited.  The pitch was that if you subscribe, you get unlimited access.

But they get greedy.  They decide to create new things that don't violate the "unlimited" scheme, but in ways to make you pay for them, like the FvS, champion and veteran I&II deals.
This worked well and the marks, I mean customers, didn't piss and moan and quit (well, it happened a little, and most came back), but most importantly people paid.

So they created a new class, that you couldn't immediately earn through favor unfortunately, but coming Soon (TM).  And when it was earnable, it required earning favor through challenges, which they know many people wouldn't be able to earn through (yeah, I know you're all 'leet but we're talking about the more casual gamers).

Again, this worked, so they decided to gamble big and create an "expansion pack" and now the subscribers have to purchase content.

They expand Epic from a quest difficulty level to more levels, but to really get much out of it, you need to buy EDs; it's not part of the unlimited access, sorry.

During all this time, there is so much that is not WAI, and the only things you can be sure they'll prioritize are the ones that impinge on their revenue streams (like crude vials and cannith crafting).

Eventually, after realizing how much you're being treated like a sucker and fucked financially, you look at going Premium and discover that it would take a fairly large immediate investment to go premium and maintain access to everything you have, despite the years of subscription fees.

Then along comes this really nice guy from the Vault and he tells you how to dupe.
Now you can have huge bags for all your toons.  Large devil scales, dragon scales, jewlers tools, commendations, +3 ability tomes across the board, +4 skill tomes, keys of destiny, bells of opening, XP pots and rez cakes, my god the REZ CAKES!

At last, you have to choice to grind or not to grind.  You can grind 50 times more efficiently, or you can now just run shit for fun.

Finally, some little schmuck comes around whinging about duping not being WAI.

And while I know you should be entitled to your opinion, all I really want to say is "STFU, GTFO, and DIAF you wheezy little cock-munching fucktard."

Sorry I can't empathize with your point of view.  I like to think that I can see multiple sides of issues, but I just don't have it in me this time.  I'm also sorry that you bring out the worst in me, because I'm actually a pretty nice guy.
So, yeah, sorry.

P.S.
I think there's something on your chin there, buddy.

Depends on the ruleset... in D&D ( boxes ) you only reach that stage when you reach LVL 36... And then de God that decided that you were a nice guy can eventually give you a few tasks so tht you can become an Immortal.

Then again in D&D 3.0/.5 you gets into godlike being mode around LVL 30.

All the versions in between have no ties between normal levels and gods.

I don't remember for 4th Ed... I just skimmed the books before putting them in the archives... and 5th Ed is new enough that it's not an issue yet.

Duping does have a cost. If you mess with the web of magic too much there is a risk of you being imprisoned in the Plane of the Banned.
