Ah Firefly... If ever there was a show I wish had more episodes, Firefly is it. Too short imo. How that has ~14 episodes and Honey Boo Boo has multiple seasons, I do not know.

Yea, even saw the movie, that show should had at least 5 seasons.

I agree too - I have a hard time believing my tastes are so unusual that they couldn't make a go of at least a few shows that don't make me turn off the TV in disgust.

I guess TV execs might be almost as out of touch as Turdbin devs.

But I voted with my wallet there too - I canceled cable and bought a bunch of DVDs of shows. Firefly, Dresden Files, Babylon 5. I may not get new episodes, but at least I know I'm not supporting Honey Boo Boo.

Turdbin, keep changing the DDO rules, because McDonalds sold over 200 billion hamburgers by changing the recipe for their Special Sauce every couple of months to keep interest up.

I think I only watched the first episode. I really liked it and wanted to watch more, but when I found out it was axed I gave up.... I didn't even know honey boo boo existed until they cancelled it. Still don't know wtf it is.

After all these years, imho Babylon 5 still rates as the best SciFi series I have seen.  5 seasons that are cohesive, consistent and have storylines woven throughout the entire series.
JMS did an amazing job with that series.
Haven't seen what he is working on lately - ooh - a Babylon 5 movie reboot in 2016!  Awesome.

There are some great movies that support the series too, as well the Lost Tales made in 2007 to flesh out some plot lines.

If you haven't seen the series, check it out, you won't regret it.
Cool

I agree.  Harlan Ellison did the consulting for it and I think he is what made that series shine.  It paved the way for all the current Sci-Fi shows. I wasn't that fond of the Rangers line, but I'm not sure how much input Ellison had on it.

Also, I don't have much hope for the movie if Ellison isn't in on it as well.

Babylon 5 is pretty good, but the FX are dated now. It was the first scifi to use a story arch for an entire season - although they claim for the whole 5 years.

Stargate...could never get into that. Seems to stupid for words.

Farscape...muppets...farscape...muppets...nope. Blach!

2nd half of Season 1 through the end sure.  First half of Season 1 was missing some continuity probably due to character & plot development.  First half of season 1 through about season 3 (maybe 4) had a nice, snug arc with the reason the Mimbari surrendered & the reason they came to the station.  And because of that it tied 1-5 together completely.

I concur,
I haven't seen a SciFi serie ( well except The Doctor, but that one is well... Special... and even then there's ups and downs in it, while everything is important in B5. ) that was so nicely done... And they still had room to do more stuff if Crusade hadn't been killed after the first season. ( ok, compared to B5 Crusade was slow moving... but as a devious Spacemaster GM, there was so many interesting things to pick up and inflict on my poor players )

If you have the choice, Pick Babylon 5.

Stargate... Well SG1... tends to repat itself after a few season...
As for the spinoffs... I hated SGU, the whole concept sucks... better to watch the original Battlestar Galactica.
Atlantis is so so... But since it's a rehash of SG1 in another galaxy you already know what's gonna happen.

I can't say for Farsacape, I haven't seen them.

B5 Story arc is based on 5 Seasons... True there's a single sesason story arc too... as well as single ( or double ) episode story arcs...
But really all the things are tied up through the whole lenght of the serie, and in the last season there's unimportant things that were seen in the first season that suddenly become important

I never got into b5.  To me it was soap opera for nerds.

"As my great great great great grandfather used to say, 'cool!'"... ughhh, I actually switched it off and went outside for once.

I suppose if I did a b5 marathon now that it's done, I'd probably do a 180.

Babylon 5's SFX will be dated now, but the series wasn't held together with SFX.  It was character development.  Real characters with real flaws that stay with you - whilst I've watched many series and forgotten the protaganist and story lines, the main characters and plots in B5 are still vivid - Sheridan, Dellen, Garibaldi, G'kar, Mollari, etc.

I watched all ten seasons of SG and five seasons of Stargate Atlantis plus many of the Star Trek series, and they were enjoyable, but something about B5 makes it memorable and worth watching again.

Yes, B5 is dramatic - but I think that is what made it different.  I think some of the cast had theatre backgrounds, so they were less wooden than most sci-fi actors in their first gigs.
I guess you need to factor that into the equation - if you find episodes with little or no action slow, then there are some of those.

Aeolwind - you're right, I did not give enough credit to Harlan, which is an oversight.  Hope he is involved with the new movie.
Would have been nice if Crusade had gotten more than half a season to develop (was it 12 eps)?  I really liked the Galen character.

Jerry Doyle as Garibaldi is probably one of my favorite TV based characters ever.

G'kar & Mollari were both theater trained actors.

Delenn was theater trained as well.

Honestly, the weakest actor there was Boxleitner.  And he wasn't terrible.

The special effects are dated.  The makeup is not.  It is probably some of the best makeup I've seen done on TV ever.  Realize that it takes a bit to warm up, but when it does the doors fly off.

You refer to us as a collective - there are few things in which we all agree, and this was definitely not one of them.
Some of us did not trust MajMal, his motivations were transparent, but that is history and irrelevant now. My guess is that he prayed on the hopes of those who thought he might be in it to help save DDO.
A well played gambit if there was one.  He sure fooled some before completely bolloxing up the interface and then toddling over to LOTRO to work his magic there.

Welcome back.
(I'd say Hi Welcome, but it might be misinterpreted as a dick to the forehead apparently.)
