Surely a few probes could ascertain their structures well enough?
Not that easy, the backend is on a separate network...
If you have an oldstyle ( pre-Akamai ) client lying around you will have the right files in c:\Users\<User>\AppData\Local\Turbine\Dungeons and Dragons Online\Launcher
that tell you some of the behind the scene shit like :
World status servers:
Cannith @ http://gls.ddo.com/GLS.DataCenterServer/StatusServer.aspx?s=10.67.112.59
Wayfinder @ http://gls.ddo.com/GLS.DataCenterServer/StatusServer.aspx?s=10.67.112.53
Argonnessen @ http://gls.ddo.com/GLS.DataCenterServer/StatusServer.aspx?s=10.67.112.56
Thelanis @ http://gls.ddo.com/GLS.DataCenterServer/StatusServer.aspx?s=10.67.112.21
Sarlona @ http://gls.ddo.com/GLS.DataCenterServer/StatusServer.aspx?s=10.67.112.22
Khyber @ http://gls.ddo.com/GLS.DataCenterServer/StatusServer.aspx?s=10.67.112.23
Ghallanda @ http://gls.ddo.com/GLS.DataCenterServer/StatusServer.aspx?s=10.67.112.64

Since 10/8 is a private network ( as in : It is NEVER routed over the internet ) it's a clear clue that there is a backend network.
And beside those old ( pre-Akamai ) logs there's no way to find the rest of the addresses. There has to be a few IPs for database servers, and for GM/maintenance direct connection, but I never saw them in the logs, and since it's IPs that are not routed, they are not part of the normal DDO traffic between client and server...
I don't think we can pull out the back end information unless a dev posts a screenie with some of it ( like Kookie did once with direct DDO store links that could be used in a browser... before blacking up the chat box. [ that's how I learned that the Store is hosted by Akamai ] )
