No discussion here on the return of Mabar yet?

Anyone else catch Cordo mention in the last live stream that the because of public outcry, the Mimic event will now be slotted in the spring time for the anniversary event and they are going to re-tool Mabar for the Halloween event?

Not sure which I'm more surprised with, that they are putting the time into fixing Mabar, or that they listened to public outcry.

Thoughts?

Well there wasn't a "public outcry" at in my house, just a lot of "what a bunch of fucking bullshit they took away the only one of their stupid fucking events I actually enjoyed," coming from my wife.

Fuck Off, That is all

Not if it was more than two or three minutes in.  It's not likely anyone here can watch it for longer than that.

Mimic event got delayed?  Damn shame that.
I'm curious what the reason was.....

Did they screw it up (most likely)?
Too many events clustered together?
Nobody interested in stupid mimics or the junk loot you can get?

I don't think Mabar was ever intended to come back.
I believe they said there would be an "event" where you could still get Mabar items.  I assumed it would mean crafting like you used to, but it appears not.

Jelly - of all the events, Mabar was the only one that provided decent items for leveling.  Crystal Cove had some stuff, but I hated CC (until duping came along, and then my view changed....).   Wink

Mabar event could potentially be recovered if they staggered the dragon instances (don't have them based on turn ins - just run them once per hour approx. with no overlap between instances) and took some other recommendations to reduce lag.
If it brings lag, they'll really be stuffed as it is already bad without it.

Or the augments.

Most of the gear was good for someone.
It had uses.
I still use my cloaks while levelling.

It really is staggering to think. They had the chance to build a fresh event from the ground up, without having to deal with modifying old event spaghetti code, and what they came up with was so shitty it made the players call out, "Bring back Lagbar!" Overwhelmingly. I mean, enough players that even Turbine listened.

Holy shit.

This is my understanding as well.

We're not yet ready to provide details about the event, other than the hint provided in the Producer's Letter from July, but we can say that the event's items will be the items from Mabar. At this time we have not been able to recover the Mabar festival in a way that addresses the issues with it and allow for its return.

Regarding Crystal Cove, we're planning to run the event this year with the new tier of loot around the time that Mabar would normally arrive. The plan for the future is to have the new event run around the time that we used to run Mabar.

That's what I thought too.  At one point, they said not to ever look for Mabar again.  But Wed., Cordo said they are rebuilding it to be the Halloween event again.  It will still be in Delera's grave yard.  No mention if it will have the same ingredients or not, just that they are working to redo it.

I don't care for mabar or it's laggy dragon fight. But it would be nice if the trader would show up one more time so I can turn in my motes from previous events.

Look, I can get that some people miss Mabar, I admit having fun with it during the first times I've participated in the event, but demanding Turbine to bring it back is just retarded.

The Cloak of Night was OK, totally outdated right now, and the +5 tomes? I guess some new players might still need their +5 tomes but come on, they will put tomes in the reward list of whatever event they come up with in the future.

I might just come back to the game for Mabar. Can't quite put my finger on it but I really enjoyed it.

You need fun festivals every now and again to refresh the game and engage players. They have run CC into the ground and Risia is just meh and Festvult is a non-event with the low drop rates. The mimic event was just going to be another Festivault with nothing but trash loot.

I would just like an easy in game way to get +5 tomes and the augments they offered in mabar.

I actually always liked mabar.  When it wasn't crippled with lag.  Just a shame that it was pretty much always crippled with lag.

I also suffered from being an EU player, meaning my 'peak' gaming hours were often quite deserted on the servers.  If I stayed on late enough things would pick up, though.

I've never much cared for the events.

The gear is usually nice, but the events themselves always end up being annoyingly-grindy.

Take Crystal Cove's Flask of Endless Grog: its actually a pretty handly little clicky... but I cannot imagine actually grinding one of those things out. Not that I did, but still.

I'll never understand the propensity of people to brag about being good at a video game. Its a toy you play with for fun. The only person who should be proud of you is your mother. If you're 3.

At least some of the flasks from the cards had effects that lasted longer than the cooldown.

If its the only flask you own it has some niche uses. Big one for me is its the effects of a Heal spell without a UMD check. I usually play as a warforged and while I like Reconstruct, it does not fix status effects or stat damage.

Is it a fantastic, amazing, must-have item that was totally worth the hours a 100% legit put into getting it? Hell no. Is it a nice little bauble that's casually useful? More or less. I'm not sorry I got one, but that's about the most charitable thing I can say.

If I'd that to *ahem* "grind" 30-40,000 coms those would be great. As is I think I'd rather save my coms.

It's like the potions you get from champion fragments: the time required to earn them is radically disproportionate to their over-all usefulness.

Same with the flask. Just too damn much grinding for too little value.
