I confused munk, you said you don't play at all anymore, so did you have to make a undertaking to play to get on?

I stopped playing last Feb.  At the time I didn't think it was likely I'd go back.

I logged into lam from time to time last year to keep up with changes when they piqued my interest. (Mrr/prr,  paladin an bard passes)

After my exams in November I logged into live for one weekend and carried out an etr on Munk.  Since then I've been away on holiday/marriage/honeymoon and haven't been near a computer.

Champions have piqued my interest as have warlock. I'll probably bust out one more ETR when I get back home and then take a break during the uni term.

So you want to know about an exploit?

Gratz Munk.

A good appointment mate.  Regardless of your in game time, your ability to contribute to the development discussions will hopefully be invaluable.

Wow. did they know that? 1 weekend since November and maybe 1 more before you break again?

What's the point if you don't mind? sure your interest is piqued but obviously not enough to play regularly.

Do you think they picked you just to have a "known Vault member"? I mean honestly I like your builds but fuck, seems like it would be better to have someone who is invested in the game, while your stuff is fine you're certainly not the only buildbuff.

I really don't see why you applied as well, nothing personal man, just makes me wonder why a guy who plays so little is  interested in pushing into the PC, what is it ego? or just to see if you could? or was it a move to get your ban pulled?

I'm definitely  glad to see some Vault member in there, just seems fucked up that you are one em, you're not even a part timer these days.

You are uncharacteristically dancing around this one Gawker.
I didn't know you had any diplomacy skills!   Shocked

Not sure why this bothers you so much (or why you're being so nice about it)?    Roll Eyes

Most people think the PC is a crock and a waste of time, so if that is your view who cares who gets on it?
If you do think the PC serves a purpose, then Munk's in game time is not as relevant as his game knowledge imho.

Sure some threads will be about current stuff he is not familiar with, but a lot will be about future development/game balancing/commercialising concepts.  You don't need to be playing to provide constructive feedback on those.

You're right, there are other theory builders and if they applied they should be weighed on their merits.
I sincerely doubt that his involvement in The Vault counted in his favour.
It is likely a combination of Munk's contributions on the main forums and the calibre of other nominees.
Either way he's going to have to be a good boy now.
I assume you cleaned up your main account Munk - I'm sure they've already checked it and run base line analysis on it.   Wink

I'm down with the cool-kid lingo.  Personally, I'm happy that Munk got on the council.  At least he has his head screwed on.

The experience he has is enough that he could easily keep abreast of the changes to the game, I feel.

LOL.

I'm glad that Munk got in, even while I agree with some of gawker's points.

Let's be real here, even while Munk hasn't been playing a lot, there still hasn't been that many changes in DDO to speak of. You don't have to play every day to have an idea of how things work. You can play an hour or two every few months and still be better than Fran.

I ended up not applying, simply because commiting myself to play the game regularly for a whole year (no matter what choices they make) is something I couldn't do, especially since I'll be pretty busy this year. And even if I had applied, it would've been pretty catastrophic to post that I was accepted right here on the Vault, you know, having publicly shared exploits that took them months to fix and such.

We don't know how much time was actually spent fixing anything.  We only know how long it took for us to see action.

It took them a year to "fix" Artificer conjure bolt to conjure more than 100 bolts for the players, but it was changed within a week of a dev playing the class.

Regarding Munk's participation on the PC, I sincerely hope it doesn't result in him interacting less with the Vault and hope at the end of his term he can point to a few things that were worth his effort.

I never see Backley (aka Orien's Item/R) in the game anymore and wonder whether or not his time on the PC had anything to do with this.

1. I pointed out my large 2014 break in my application, and the fact that I have been on holiday since December.

2. After 9 months of trying other games there's still nothing out there that came close to being as fun as DDO was. The weekend I played in November was enough to remind me there is still fun to be had in DDO. The main reasons why I'm going to be much more casual is I don't want to burn out again, and honestly I'm struggling with engineering calculus (I left school at 16) keeping on top of my grades takes up a lot of my time.

3. I don't know. I'll be the first to admit that there have been a lot of other excellent builders here over the years (Carpone, atomicmew, even harharhar,  rubbins and lelouch have gotten better at building recently and have bought up builds that I wouldn't have thought of myself). Any of us could have been picked, perhaps I'm the only one who applied?  Even when I stopped playing on live I don't know if it's fair to say I wasn't invested, I was still updating the wiki, browsing forums, testing on lam and submitting bug reports.

4. Theres lots of reasons why I applied and if I'm completely honest ego probably was a part of it. Ultimately though I didn't like the direction the game went last year & I didn't apply for the council. I want the game to be more fun for me even if it means I've got to find some time this year to commit direct feedback.

Yeah, not like I spit the dummy.

Hard for me to go full pitbull unless I'm full in, so to say. And I guess because I rather like a fair bit of munks stuff, and while something about it is bothering me I cannot quite put my finger on it, sort of like a smell (seriously) almost a unconscious bother.

And honestly I had been very excited to torch Turbine's new PC on the forums yesterday, but then Atomic didn't get on... so it's possible I was scratching for a itch with the theorycrafting angle, but that would have been weak tea.

Didn't apply.

I wasn't keen on them looking through my accounts, and I love exploits, especially new ones. And I don't think I could stomach much of Sev (similar to Arkunt) without saying something honest about self-impressed assholes and getting the boot, so nope.

Hey, as long as you get them to buff pure monks, I'm all for it.  Smiley

I like Munk getting in though.  You don't even have to play a whole lot to understand the *concepts* of how things work, which is far more important than painting the bikeshed, and he has a far better understanding of the way things fit together than most.

Munk, I am amazed that you would waste time on this. Seriously amazed. Your input isn't wanted or will it be used. There is a reason they want 'big names' on the pc and it is not for your input. What did the fucking producer call it, a circle jerk? lip service.... lol

Munk, I am amazed that you would waste time on this. Seriously amazed. Your input isn't wanted or will it be used. There is a reason they want 'big names' on the pc and it is not for your input. What did the fucking producer call it, a circle jerk? lip service.... lol

Sitting on my ass last year didn't help at all either. It should go without saying though, if it does feel like a waste of time I won't last long.
