Getting things to display

Hey this is kind of a dumb one, but it has been frustrating me.

Say you want to mouse over an item to look at it(what it does, stats, etc) if it happens to be a particularly good item(like a tier 3 greensteel) it will usually be taller than the screen, meaning either the top or bottom gets cut off.

Is there a fix/workaround for this?

Menu > Options > UI

uncheck the box that says Show Detailed Description in Examination

There is an option to "Show detailed descriptions in tooltip" in the UI settings.

This gives you condensed versions. If you need to read the description of what an enchantment does, you can hover over it.

Oh, those suggestions sound cheaper than mine which was to buy a 4K monitor.

I'm not against buying a 4k monitor, I've spent close to that much on monitors anyway(up to 5x 24" screens and 2 TH2Gs...) Got any specific super monitors in mind? Tongue

I would need 3 of them, though...

Years ago, my wife and I stayed with my uncle when we were just getting together.  I played DDO on his giant TV. It was something like this, http://www.samsung.com/us/video/tvs/PN64F8500AFXZA

Kobolds were fucking life size, it was awesome.

You can get a 64" TV for like $1400 these days, maybe closer to $1200 if you don't care as much about quality(let's face it: if you're playing DDO, you don't)

Honestly if I had space for a really dedicated setup I'd do it. Get a comfortable chair with keyboard/mouse on a small table, everything at juuuuust the right height...

It's really a space issue, though Tongue lol

Definitely a space issue for me, our tv croaked so I want to upgrade to the next size up, like 30"s lol, but my wife doesn't think we have room in the "command center" for it.
Right now we have the 2 computer monitors, the tv above them and an old square monitor for the cameras above that.

But you'll need Kawai like hotkey skills to be able to play it.   Grin
Unless you play a melee, in which case just turn on auto attack and assign next target to a controller button.   Grin

On most large screen tv's (not the 4k's), the dpi is quite small, so you need to sit a fair way back, making the hot bars hard to discern and text nigh on impossible to read).
Have not tried the 4k's to see how they fair with gaming.  I suspect you'll get high resolution (if supported), but the hot bars will be almost impossible to see at all as they don't scale!   Undecided

There is a way to force it to display from the top, IIRC.

Try highlight ctrl-z.

Will still cut off the bottom, but should get what you need between the 2.

I think at this point a projector would actually be a better plan. MASSIVE scale, normal resolution.

Still dun have enough space, though Tongue

Projectors are ok, but you need a darkened room or an ultrabright projector (expensive bulbs).
And as you suggest, a fair bit of space too.
They do have short throw projectors, but the size of the screen determines how far back you need to sit to avoid eyestrain.
