Why Noamineo?

My view is that things like the Monster Manual are a good thing.
They add an element/dimension to the game that is entirely optional.  Like crafting.
It adds depth to the game for some of your players.
Some power gamers will ignore it and some will love it.
It doesn't really affect anyone else.

The only consideration is whether it is worth the development effort.

Other games have different variations of these.  Trophy cabinets, achievements, lodges, guild halls etc.  They encourage people to become invested in the game.

Your concern about achievement hunters is unfounded.  It's the same as flower sniffers or those that must get every optional.  The LFM will likely let you know, and if not, you don't play with them after 1 quest.

If trophies/achievements are visible to other players, then that will appeal to the ego group and they will use it as an epeen proxy - but so what?  They do it now with completion times.   You just ignore it if it does not appeal to you.  I couldn't give a crap about completion times, and largely ignore most of those discussions.
If they're not visible to others, then a different group of players will be interested.  No dramas.

I honestly think a few systems like this would add so much more longevity to the game for many players without any power creep.  I rarely even look at my MM, but I do know players who would pay for these things, so I'm all for it.

I just do every quest on elite once so I dont go insane with repeating things. I still get enough xp to miss out some of the painful quests

I take a 6 hour +30% pot when I hit lvl 2 and that takes me to lvl 8

When I hit lvl 18 I take a slayer pot and hit Vale etc which takes me mostly out to 20

Doing each quest elite once means each life makes about enough TP to buy the xp and slayer pot

Go human and take the travel marks for ddoor and teleport, makes leveling so much faster.

Get a low level invis clicky. invis everything Tongue

I always take UMD for invis, nightshield, fireball/icestorm scrolls. This makes a few key quests easy to run quickly

The lvl 6 raid is easy to solo on most builds and very quick if you can do decent damage. I normally go back and do it once my xp pot has run out, so I don't waste pot time if something goes wrong/takes more time

I always do one of the 5 minute challenges with kobolds - easy extra xp and the ingredients will give you +5%xp pots

Figure out how to slot your lvl 5 xp gem into lower level items. *cough*

Then again, I'm playing DDO despite the fact that it's an MMO, and not because of it.

I am the same way.

I play because it's (mostly) Dungeons & Dragons and the combat is fun.  Having people around to chat with occasionally is completely peripheral.

This is by no means a definitive list that guarantees 20 on a 3rd+ life.  It's more a greatest hits of my usual path.  This guide is underlevel, which means you would be running quests 1 or 2 levels under quest and 3 to 4 levels under elite.  If your current life is gimp or you just hate that class and don't know how to effectively use it you may need to adjust to put yourself 2 levels over.

Levels 1 AND 2
-------------------------
Korthos Village Quests (explorer quests optional)
3x Kobolds New Ringleader
Ransack Haverdasher

Levels 3-6
-------------------------
3BC Saga (start at Irestone, end on Sentinels)
Depths Chain
Tear of Dhakaan

Levels 7-9
-------------------------
Von Chain
Necro One (swap with Deleras optional)

Levels 9-10
-------------------------
Red Fens
Necro Two (swap with Deleras optional)

Levels 11-12
--------------------------
Sands Chain
Lordsmarch Plaza
Necro Three

Levels 13-15
--------------------------
Gianthold Saga
Lords of Dust Chain

Levels  16-20
--------------------------
Wheloon
High Road
Druids Deep
Storm Horns
Murder by Night
The Riddle
Inspired Quarter (optional)
Vale of Twilight (optional)

It doesn't really affect anyone until your party wipes because someone was trying to get the "Always be on Red Alert" achievement, or you have to 5-man a raid because 7 people are standing in corners working on the "jump 500 times in one dungeon" achievement.

These are just examples, but we already have enough shit like that to deal with between perma-deathers and elite-streakers(though the elite streak thing has calmed down a lot). Do you really want to add obsessive and annoying achievement hunters?

Seriously, ask any veteran WoW player, they pretty much either love the system or think it has ruined the game. But exactly fuck-nobody thinks it just "doesn't affect anyone else".

Granted, WoW is considerably more party-intensive, but it's still irritating.

I'll never understand the propensity of people to brag about being good at a video game. Its a toy you play with for fun. The only person who should be proud of you is your mother. If you're 3.

Ok, there could be achievements that would be stoopid, and knowing Turdbine, you're right they would probably get in.

I guess I was thinking more along the lines of more innocuous objectives.    Undecided

If you're going to run the whole dungeon on red alert, you'd think people would put that in the LFM, but....    Huh

I don't feel the urge to do a specific quest order. if the OP restricts himself to a specific time frame, though, it might be important.

Lvl. 1-5:
I do every low level quest 1x with a 50% pot. running (or any pot. for that matter). My goal is reaching lvl. 4-5 asap for voice. But the content is so limitted that an order of quests is irrelevant, you will run them all anyways.

Some nostalgia quests like Tangleroot and STK I do still. I can never have enough DW clickies, he Smiley.

Lvl. 6-10:
Same procedure, although I will focus on quests, which are done fast, even if lower xp/min. And after hitting lvl. 7 I do Necro 1, Delera, Tear, Sentinel chain, VoN 1-4, etc. There is so much xp. in that lvl. range that will skip some high xp. quests when reaching a new level. Mostly I skip necro2. Which hurts a bit but since you can run the important quests with redwindow I live with it.

Lvl. 11+:
Sands are mandatory for me, else I do what content there is, again, always trying to bank one level, but using 50% pot.s I never have a problem with that.

True to some extent, but I ran with lesser pot.s before 50% were available and neither had problems back then in lvl. range 6-10. The bottleneck was lvl. 4 to 6, though. I farmed Ringleader 8 times, after bb was available I ran it 2 or 3 times (e/h/n).

Depends on available content, I guess. Point is, there is no real need for a questorder on 1-6. Run it once and done with it. And since they changed ransack mechanic you can run under level as well.

You can use Gift of the Master at level 1 in a blank accessory with a colorless slot.
