Wormfang Manta + Vanishing = infinite turns. Because permanents phasing out triggered leaving play abilities, but creatures phasing in did not trigger coming into play abilities.

...except that when Wizards (dickheads) rereleased Mirage block on magic online they changed the phasing rules because they apparently were too stupid to figure out how to code it as it was.

So I had a mono blue deck with a 2 card win combo and the standard counterspell, force of will, high tide, brainstorm, boomerang, etc. setup and it got nerfed into oblivion for no real reason.

If I played Dominate, then I'm playing my Mana Magic deck. You are countered. If you have swamps in there, then I have two Forces of Will in reserve, or I'd have just Snapped or Capsized the snake.

This duel has until the snake kills you, or you find a break in the soft control to drop your combo, or you've got another surprise next to Donate, Illusions, Necropotence, Snakes, & Bows. With blue you might have counters of your own, so quite possible.

I pulled out Stroke of Genius for another deck, so no combos from me. Just control, deck searching, and summons, all of which is instant, or untaps the land used to cast. I think I took out the infini-mana-stroke combo because I actually wanted to play this deck on occasion. Worst thing ever is playing against a dude who can Capsize every one of your permanents, but hasn't drawn Stroke, or any of his cards that can find it yet.

You have a point. It's an even better way to come up with creative combos, and to see the synergies between cards you'd never otherwise put in the same deck together.

Unlimited (I think?) had just been discontinued and the new core minus Moxes and Lotus was released.  I bought my first packs along with some legends that had just gotten released.

I remember this fucker traded my Time Elemental for a Serra Effing Angel when I was a clueless naive noob.

Those things turn into a win condition a good percentage of the time. If I had 2 rituals, a Spectre, and a Vamp on turn 1, often I'd summon the Spec. It makes more panic.
