If I had to venture a technical guess, I'd say it's probably because that toon still exists on the original server, but they've just set it to disabled.  You do the same thing with user accounts on servers.  It's not proof of that, but try making a new toon with the same name on the original server.  I'd be surprised if that didn't pop a name collision error.

To protect their sensitive egos, they probably run filters and only ever see the 6 or so fan boi poster comments.
Occasionally if a new positive post emerges, Cordo emails it around.

So as far as the DDO devs are concerned, the game is doing great, they're loved and respected by the "masses" and all the latest releases have been well received and TOEE was a blazing home run!
Oh, and collecting mushrooms was an awesome idea.... apparently.

How often would I group with 700 horrible players?  Never.

Here is the problem Meat, you have the underlying assumption that other players = good (improved game experience).  Therefore more players = more good (Better game experience).  But what if that assumption is wrong?  What if other players = bad (worse game experience).  Then more players is not better. 

Example:
Would you rather have 1 student who is focused and wants to learn or 10 of them in your class?

Would you rather have 1 student who is disrespectful, unmotivated, and rude or 10 of them in your class?

I made a human fvs (Favenmo) on each server when the original ottos stones were released. The idea was to have a versatile character that would be welcome in raids or epics, motu put an end to that train of thought.

Ahh yes, the good old days. When raids were run regularly and there were actually roles for those contributing in those raids....  MOTU crapped on all the time and effort I and my friends put into making our tanks.  Cry

We can all meet a ton of players outside the game in various social media. Yet, we only have a ~1/8 chance of actually being able to play with them. It was a stupid idea to have a segregated playerbase in the first place. It's time for a megaserver.

Meh.  Tanks come and go in terms of value. 

Titan/DQ was tank-less.  Reavers barely needed a tank.  Abbott was tank-less.  VoD/Hound used tanks.  Shroud was tank-less.  ToD/LoB used tanks(Althought the ToD tank and LoB tank were different in requirements).  Chrono was varied.  CiTW didn't.  FoT did.  DD/Shadow Dragon use tanks too.  E-Abbott does not. 

Of the 16 raids, 7-8 don't use tanks.  8-9 do.  Getting all butt hurt over that would be idiotic.

Funny, Mod is the only thing where people actually ask for a tank or three.
Deathwyrm depends - don't need melee tank but it kinda sucks to ranged tank her if you have mostly melee deeps.
Tanks in Thunder Peaks ? Lolwut, noone does that ever.

Sometimes I actually DO like grouping with horrible players. It's fun to carry groups sometimes and mop up a sh!tshow and get completion.

A half-dozen boss Vaulties donated generously with real money to my classroom during a fundraiser in May 2015 to get poor kids books to read. I won't forget that. They know who they are, and they freaking rule.

I look at it like this. I am just a regular guy in real life. But for an example of what happened to me last night, I joined a pug for Proof is in the poison. It is IP, so I jump in and they are like, "yay phin will save us," then as I get closer the life bars go from alive to dead. I got to be the hero. It is nice to be the hero sometimes.

Were they horrible, I don't know, after I drug there stones to the shrine we had no problems. I wasn't there for the wipe, but they seemed to be pretty careful till the end of the quest. They were first lifers. It was fun.

It is nice to be a piker too, but last night, I was the hero.

My favorite Shroud runs were when it was challenging. However, I've been the last man standing twice, and it was only fun being the hero once. It made a huge difference that the first time was on Elite with a 2nd-life Artificer, at level, Pre-MOTU; and the second time was a Normal run with a monkadin.

The first one felt awesome. The second one just made me sad.

I really think this isn't so much a problem of horrible players, but a problem of poor design.  There are lots of games where randomway is fun and enjoyable, even with a huge gap in player skill. 

In DDO, there is just too much to discourage grouping and incentivize soloing.  A full 6 man party is literally never optimal for normal quests.  There also isn't any "quick join" mechanic, so newbs sit in empty LFMs, get bored quickly and leave the game. 

A huge problem IMO.
