popcorn thread about a popcorn thread turns into a geography and geology lesson about dirthole countries. You guys can make anything boring.

Fify.... and you have no idea how fun it is... at least for me...
The best thing ( from my point of view ) is that I don't even have to go look for my reference books/websites to spew out all that geological stuff....

And for the whole Turkey/Europe thing... it's a bit like if Mexico was knocking at the door to Join the Union as the 52nd State, except that Mexico has the same Culture. ( Western European )

now it's true that we should move that to P&R since the whole thread has devolved into a P&R issue.
( and both Politics and Religion are the issue here... among other things like geography, geology, and international organizations saying white or black )

Completely valid comparison.  Now, let me explain the difference (um, I'm also just going to assume you think Canada is the 51st state, ignore that and move on) between your hypothetical scenario for us and your real situation.

If that were the case we would basically just flat out admit - it's not going to happen because
A.  We really don't like them very much and (more importantly)
B.  It would fuck up our flag.

That's it, honest reasons, not some long winded fantasy about Turkey being in Africa.  Just - we don't like them and it would fuck up the flag.  Is that so hard?

You want to agree to similar terms for your situation, I'd have absolutely nothing to argue about.  Just man up and admit it.  You don't like them and the fact they're mostly Muslim scares you some.  I'd have far more respect for that type of honesty than trying to ignore the facts that

A. Part (if only a small part) of Turkey is in Europe
B. All of Turkey is in Eurasia
C. None of Turkey is in Africa.

*In*  Or you could have even went for 'It does on *the* Asian side of Turkey.'  You don't totally suck at English, but you really do need to brush up on those prepositions.

A) Geographically yes, less than 10% though
B) Geologically yes, less than 5% though
c) Geologically wrong, most of it is in Africa... less than 5% is in Eurasia ( see above ) and about 10ish% is in Arabia. [ East of Levant Fault, South of North Anatolian Fault ]

Now I agree with some of your terms... The Muslim scaring bit is not valid in my case... After all Froggy Land is (supposedly ) Secular.
If they are willing to keep their religion to the private sphere I have no issue, as I said numerous time : I have many colleagues that  are muslims and it doesn't pose an issue... because everybody agrees that religion is a private matter. ( I also had a Bhudist Priestess as my manager for a bit... we didn't go well together, but it had nothing to do with religion... it was the way they managed the team )
... Now Erdogan is more of the kinds that wants to force feed his religion to anybody he cans find... so I have a problem with him.
( basically I would have no issue with Attaturk... )

The main Issue is that culturally they are not European ( as in French/Iberian/Italian/Scandinavian/Anglo-Saxon [ Krauts and Rosbeefs ], Greekish or Austro-Hungarian Culture [ Austria, Hungary, and more countries including Romania, Bulgaria, and other eastern Europe country ] ). And no matter how they try it, they will never  have an European Culture... because of the religion and how it relates to secular life.
If they just forget Islam and go Christian Orthodox we might be able to talk... But that's not going to happen. ( and note the conditional might... it's not even a sure thing. )

All joking aside, is this weirdness just you?  Or do they like teach you that in French schools.  Or do the French just completely overlook everyone else's concept of continents and use your own guide lines?  You want to label them as 'middle eastern,' I can see that - but that's a region, not a continent.  Can you even give a source that puts Turkey in Africa (cause I can give like a million that puts it in Asia/Europe/Eurasia or whatever the fuck you want to call it).  (and keep in mind I'm discussing pure geography here, not social sciences).

Erdogan is pretty much the exact opposite of Attaturk.  I'd be worried if you didn't have an issue with him.

Second question though - have you ever been to Turkey?

You do remember that the Christians of Europe haven't always been the big happy circle jerk they'd like to pretend to be now, right?  That whole eastern western catholic schism was a pretty big deal for a long time.  Hell, the Greeks would probably still have Constantinople if not for the religious politics there.  And its not like the Catholic Protestant thing was a bowl of cherries.  Wasn't all that long ago they were still blowing the fuck out of each other.

Change religion?Come on Frog...

We are talking about the same people that gathered as many young children as they could from the occupied areas made them warriors and threw them in battle as disposable infantry.

Plus the genocides, plus pillaging churches etc etc

Crazy Catholics and their Crusades are to blame for all the hatred towards us infidels though and i agree.

Well...sacking the wrong fucking city didn't help much either.  Byzantine empire might have lasted a little longer if the crusaders knew how to read a fucking map (though this might explain why Flav thinks Turkey is in Africa...).

Been meaning to ask, you Greeks planning on contributing to the modern world this century, or are you just going to continue to rest on your laurels like you have for the last 1000 or so years?

Shame this thread deteriorated before I caught up with it, I would have liked a chance to pick everyone's brain about the scene on the forums this week.

A missed opportunity.

Shame this thread deteriorated before I caught up with it, I would have liked a chance to pick everyone's brain about the scene on the forums this week.

A missed opportunity.

I may not be actively complaining, but it will be a long time before I consider the issue over. I very much appreciated your previous insights into Turdbin culture, if you had thoughts on this I'd be quite interested in reading them.

Turdbin, keep changing the DDO rules, because McDonalds sold over 200 billion hamburgers by changing the recipe for their Special Sauce every couple of months to keep interest up.

Been meaning to ask, you Greeks planning on contributing to the modern world this century, or are you just going to continue to rest on your laurels like you have for the last 1000 or so years?

Well during the renaissance we were making Kebabs and Hamams for the Turks while the rest of Europe were organizing orgies with their Ottoman friends.

After we earned our lands back and tried to stand on our feet the World Wars started and we got fucked because we decided to be heroes and didn`t allow to be bend over by Italy (that got Rekt) Albania and Bulgaria at the same  time.

Then fucking Germany came to the rescue so we bought enough time for the Russian winter and blah blah blah.

After a few thank you notes from the Brits and the allies we were left with a decimated country, destroyed factories low population, our gold ransacked (yes we had alot of that, prolly melted and passed to Frogs and the other big forces that won while we never got compensated but we got some nice IOUs from our Nazi friends).

After that, almost all our factories were bought by Germans and eventually closed them, leaving us without industry (we were even producing cars ffs).

30 years after we had a dictatorship (prolly the best thing that happened during our recent history) that boosted our economy almost repayed all our debts and once they were ready to drill for oil somehow they got overturned by a mysterious force Wink and during that process Turkey occupied the northern half of Cyprus.

Then 3 corrupted families ruled these lands fucking everyone.

So yeah..it would be nice not being in Balkans and had civilised neighbours for once and not getting raped for almost a millenia, but shit happens.

You can look up most of these stuff up i am not making stuff or trying to play the victim.

After so much crap i guess the people here said fuck it.

We are though the second best in Sea Transports (ofc without our ships having the greek flag. That shit is expensive).

Shit 300 posts and not a secret forum i might PM Epoch or fucking 1%er

What difference does it make? Is it any proof, or even indication, one way or the other? Personaly I suspect that he, like many new players who witnessed a reasonable and polite request getting responded to with fanboi flames and asymetric moderation, said screw this, I'm finding a game that isn't a toxic cesspit.

Wait, somebody else already said it better....

Exactly. My guess is the Crane has flown the nest and a cucko now resides at that address.

I forgot which comment I was going to comment on.

Anyway, I took a look at the 3 pages posted here as archived. Trying to read without taking any sides...

and crane_mace is def questionable. You guys are saying he's a new player, but he claims he's been playing for 8 months, 22h/ week, plays on lamannia, follows live feeds.. and is obsessed with Uurlock. I saw him say agenda so many times, that I'm wondering what his agenda is. To claim that Uurlock has an agenda? Like this person himself doesn't? Of course he does, and so does crane_mace. He claims to know a lot about Uurlock's posting behaviour as well.

I didn't see crane_mace break any more rules than Uurlock did, like said, calling someone out for trolling, is not permitted. But, I do question how new this person really is, or how many accounts this person had in use.

Until he himself tells us what happened, we will only be able to speculate. I ask where he is, as I would like to hear his side of the story.

And about bugs and such, on the PC last year we all (well many of us anyway), said that we'd rather see updates delayed and bugs fixed instead, but this is not how Turbine works and you all know it. They will push out their updates on schedule no matter how buggy they are, and will possibly fix the bugs later. They do fix a lot of bugs, they just prioritise bugs differently than they players do. Bugs that drive us crazy, is not high on their priority list. Bugs that make the game more fun for the players? Fix them asap.

Sorry but, I don't have anything to add beyond what I have said before regarding the community management directive and industry norms,  I was more interested on everyone's take here.

But sadly the moment has passed, only a fool would try to turn back the tide of faux geo-political knowledge being sprayed  about! (I'm looking at you rummy).

Now this made me smile:

Alas this is too little too late I think Madame Thaz.

It's akin to someone attempting to engage in a calm conversation the moment after after bursting into a room shouting at the top their lungs while throwing feces...

In other words, your moment to be taken seriously or objective has passed in this instance.

If it makes you feel any better your mercurial change in demeanor and stance did give me a chuckle if only at it's transparency. So, well done miss? you seldom disappoint in that regard.

Yup, counts as new player in my book

Do you consider Urlock an impartial and objective poster?

But trolling is not permitted, and Urlock was getting away with it in spades. He was calling for the rules to be applied fairly, his request was summarily denied. Cordo should have shut Urlock down hard but didn't because he was more concerned with protecting his buddy than doing his job or even basic decency.

I'm sure Cordo will be relieved to see somebody believed him. But Crane is far more believable than Cordo at this point.

I'd love to hear his side of it too, but I fear he was another new player driven out by the old boy's club. I'd love to buy him a beer and have a long chat about what makes a good FRPG MMO, because I have faith that it won't be too much longer before I run into him in the forums of a new game rising to fill the void.

I see Grinding Gear Games, and Goblinworks, and even some of what Cryptic did with The Foundry, and I'm more convinced than ever that Turbine is squandering their rapidly dwindling time without serious competition. I already own a ton of content so I can putter without sinking any more money in, but I'm constantly scanning the horizon for signs of a FRPG MMO with a D20 basis and a strong commitment to crowdsourcing.

Crane_Mace is the type of player to find a game like that, join the community, and make it even better. He's a builder, a contributor, exactly the kind of person I want to have a conversation with, even if I don't agree with him.

I know it as surely as I know Turbine is committing slow suicide by ignoring quality and their customers. They were innovators once, but clearly those days are over  Cry

I don`t like being passive aggressive but there is nothing to add to the subject and honestly Flav sucked all the fun out of this thread.

There is nothing wrong with a few grownups sparring from time to time.

As the great Teh_Troll once said "The horse is dead. Its time to stop beating it with a stick and have sex with it instead"

Who gives a fuck about Crane_Mace anymore?
We are not going to fight his cause and we can`t prove Jerry (you are his sock right?Since you are so sensitive about cheating issues and dicksucking in all your posts) lies.So...meh!

The motherboards proved once more that they work without professionalism while favoritism is the way to go throwing 500TPs non stop to the junior moderators.

Nothing new here move along.
