But better questions are: will they make useful at cap? Will they remove the awful grinding needed to get a decent level?

The answers are no.

and

Will it be more useful than loot, the same or worse?

There will be new amazing recipes so you can craft the random loot we all love so much:
-      Paralyzing of Ghostbane
-      Banishing of Human Bane
-      Disruption of Nature Bane
-      Vorpal of Smiting

MinLvl 28, +3 enhancement bonus, 1[w], 200 lb and of course hadness/durability 1
Extra feature: Totaly unpredictable binding.

Hmmm...
Dry bricks
Corkies
Splats
Mr Whippy's
Scats
Run down your leg
Peas & Carrots

Forgot the
Projectile Bombs
Deuce
Fleculence
black banana
chocolate channel chewie
colon cannonballs
corn eyed butt snake
corn massacre
creamy butt nuggets
digested Crayola box
Easter Bunny's present
the fourth teletubby
hardened fudge nuggets
Indian rug burns
Mississippi mud
mudfat balls
shitsicles
tangy butt nuts
that ain't chocolate puddin'!
Sloppy chalupa
Lawn sausage

But on a serious note I fully expect them to expand upon a broken system without making any real progress other then to piss people off.

Would be sorta cool if you could harvest body parts however for medicinal purposes or potions etc. Sorry been watching to much Hannibal I guess.

Why should they screw that up sp much? They have a basic system that works.

Because "Created new crafting system" looks more sexy on a resume than "Added items to existing crafting system".

That, or they found a way to monetize it better.  Or both.  Wink

Let's take that a step further and add wands and scrolls. The ability to craft your own consumables was huge in PnP.

Not sure why it isn't an option in DDO, since the most commonly used items are usually bought from the Guild Vendors in House K, so it isn't affecting Turbine's revenue streams, such as they are.

I don't know why its that hard.
if you want to add new ing its not hard to do and then make heroic min lvl 13 items at +7 and min lvl 15 +8. that's all that needs to be done for heroic. +8 items available from wheloon anyways so should be a craftable item.
then make an epic version of the same current ing and allow players to make min lvl 21 and 25 gear. job done.
pencil in....lol

You don't craft much, do you? The reason it's hard is the interface is shit. Adding more recipes will make the interface have a stroke.

Also the code was built out of snake's legs, lolly sticks and Fernando's lies.

^This, combined with the low resume value.

We already have craptastic lag from crafting, the remaining devs are weighing the risks of touching somebody else's teetering codebase against the marginal returns of "added new items to an existing crafting system" and saying "Great idea, but I'm not the best choice to do it, he is" and pointing at each other like The 3 Stooges.

I'd love to see them improve crafting, but I'm dubious of their ability to improve anything. I guess they could cut the XP requirements or boost the XP higher recipies return so duping and OCD weren't the only viable ways to get to useful level recipes, but I'm afraid they are just going to raise the level cap and add recipes that use mushrooms and feces.

BTW, I didn't get through the whole shit ingredients thread (it was good, but I was busy) but if "Polished Turd" wasn't one it should be. Actually at TurdBin it should be "Unpolished Turd (common)", "Half polished Turd (uncommon)", and "Polished Turd (rare)" and the first 2 should drop more than Blades of the Dark Six. Oh, and they should name the NPC collector "Fernando"

Turdbin, keep changing the DDO rules, because McDonalds sold over 200 billion hamburgers by changing the recipe for their Special Sauce every couple of months to keep interest up.
