right there with you.  though I doubt they would make it that hard that normal is tough for anyone.  they seem to keep making the game easier not harder.

no scaling might end up with:

casual - braindead blind players can solo
normal- easy
hard - challenging
elite - like it used to be before scaling but with the added challenge of champs

If Turdbin were a normal, sane, reasonable company I'd assume that and wouldn't bother to say anything. But Turdbin bounces back and forth between extremes trying to find the sweet spot and trashing everything along the way. They seem to get one idea stuck in their head, and push it until the player base hurts. So I don't feel safe letting a request like "remove dungeon scaling" go unchallanged, lest some Turdbin idiot see it, see it isn't opposed, and go off on a crusade to make it happen.

I'm OK playing without Elite, I'm not an elite player and while they structured the game so I need the favor to unlock stuff, I can come back to it later on cleanup. But I want to make sure they don't go overboard and trash the lower difficulties too. Elite already has significantly reduced scaling, so they might reason they need to make changes in H & N for their change to be noticed.

I don't know why they don't just drop the stupid "can't enter a quest 4 levels above you" garbage and give an over level reward like they do for Cove, people would group up for that and they already have the power level penalty to make sure it isn't abused for XP. It would work a lot better than screwing with Dungeon Scaling.

Huh I was writing to Flav on that one - unless you're one of the friends that doesn't help him as much as Dungeonscaling does?  Grin

Turdbin, keep changing the DDO rules, because McDonalds sold over 200 billion hamburgers by changing the recipe for their Special Sauce every couple of months to keep interest up.

Sounds like a minor change, and I'm not sure how well it'll assist the goal to get more players... but still a welcome set of changes in my book.

Personally I would've liked it more if they had reworked Epic BB to work more like heroic BB. It's absolutely retarded how you can lose your BB in a level 22 quest if you run it on EN at level 26. Especially when there are only 8 epic levels as opposed to 20 heroic ones. At least now though I won't have to lose my streak or avoid running certain content on EE.

Henchmen deaths IDGAF about though. 5% exp is usually never more than 1k exp even on epic difficulties because of the way exp is calculated...

everyone with two brain cells agrees with points 1 & 2.

Never said I agreed or disagreed.  I only said I'm not gonna be a whiny bitch.

How long have players told Turbine that the bonuses were hurting PUGs?  Now they change them and the only thing people can say is 'too little too late'.

It is too little too late, this might of made a marked difference a couple years ago, now? I doubt there will be any meaningful impact on the PUG scene. I could be wrong, we'll just have to see.

I'm not saying it's gonna change the PUG scene.  I don't think it would have made a difference 2 years ago or 5.  I'm fairly certain the reason most people don't PUG is because everyone thinks everyone else is an asshole.

My point is I'm just a bit amazed at the vaults' ability to complain about Turbine even when Turbine does exactly what everyone told them too for years.  I know I shouldn't be, but I am.

The bitching is because of the time frame, just think of small QoL changes like the reset button on the quest UI (if you were around before that was a thing) or setting the turn in amount in barter Uis, how long was that shit asked for?

Yeah, no, this is a good thing. A very good thing despite being laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaate!

Ran with a newb this morning - died over and over in von 3 EH and then refused to get the traps (he was an artie). Wanted to just carry his stone, but others kept rezzing him...

Anyways, the upcoming xp changes mean you can just ignore those people and let them die wherever.

Pro tip: for killing toons so you can carry stones- greensteel. Also useful for carrying people to teleport spots and joining late on shroud.

You should never allow anyone hit you while you're naked!

Thanks!

Today (when tripple running) I usually put the boxers as stones in the main toon's pocket and solo the quest and that's what I plan to do when expanding to 6 ones as well. Usually it doesn't take that long inside quests to do it that way, and I can res when it's time to loot.

My main concern is wilderness areas, in case it takes a bit of time to kill of the rest of the party. I was hoping that I could run the boxer gang with invis and using IS Boxer to the quest and let the main toon clear anything. I'll see if I can try it out with the 7-day trial to see how well it can be run this way, else I'll have to do the old kill-method and run the traditional way.

In non quest areas I plan to use friends teleport. I suppose greater teleport will also be handy to move around a bit faster with the whole gang.

It would be so much more convenient with a Follow function.

Yeah, the death option is there, but currently the XP penalty hits all toons (if you're running for XP and not favor or loot).  And the repair issues are a minor annoyance too (I kept forgetting to repair, so when I needed a toon, their gear was fracked).

The Greater Bracelet of friends is good, but I'm not paying TP for that.
The Bracelet of Friends was handy when the cards were around, but you go through quite a few and the bastards are BTA and don't stack.

Let us know how it goes as I haven't tried it in awhile.

Oh DB, not you too...  Undecided

lets try to be clear :

It's not a penalty if somebody dies, it's a bonus if there's no death in the party.
once again :
it's not a penalty if somebody dies, it's a bonus if nobody dies.

People just went the wrong way and consider the bonus an integral part of the quest XP, it's not the case.

Anyway... back to lurking drinking wine while packing bags...

keep telling yourself that. There's also no penalty if you're late with bills, it's a bonus if you're on time.

No worries Flav, I understand the semantics of the argument for pugs.

The point I was making is that if I park toons at beginning of quest, I get 10% more XP than if I die and backpack them to end.
It's a 10% difference, regardless of how you couch it.
It is only relevant if you're running for XP.

The whole semantics is important to understand how an idiot came with that idea and how much damage it has done over time.
And yeah, I understand quite well the whole point... I'm just nitpicking... This bonus should have been killed years ago.

wrong analogy Chai.

if you pay your bills early to get a discount it's a bonus.  if you pay your bills on time and get no discount it is not a penalty.

I don't pug anymore because I don't like to wait.   just get your ass to the quest in a timely manner.  it's all I ask.

after that you can do whatever.  zerg.  creep.  play.  pike.  die.  doorsit.  make a phone call.  change your colostomy bag.  DC.  fap.  I don't care what you do! but please don't make me wait for you.

and don't ask me give you directions or help you figure out if you actually have that content.

I'm very interested to see how this will really play out live, changes like this can often have unexpected impact not foreseen or intended. And even though they are trying to drive grouping I think this may come back and bite them on the butt pretty quickly.
