Anyone else notice that since the last patch the lag has been like 10x worse? It used to just be in Defiler and Amrath pubic space.

Now we're lag wiping MoD on EN because the spikes are constant long lasting. We even lag wiped a HH EH earlier after I jumped in to help some guildies pull items.

No way. They already said they couldn't reproduce the lag issue in their quest to break fix the game.

No im serious. It's really THAT hard to reproduce lag for them despite the fact that everyone else seems to get it as soon as they log in. Lag is our fault for not using uber computers with top notch connections and not playing from inside the turbine offices.

I think, they think that with a lower server population than prior years, stress testing should not be a priority.

With their general sloppy code one would emphasis it.

Then again, a lot of things  would be emphasised... *cough*QA*cough*

For simple, unstoppable lag, there are a few small counter measures you can use to remove/reduce it:

• Play using 2 accounts (main and dummy) and when the massive lag spikes start, recall from the quest/raid using the dummy account. Not guaranteed to work but its a common pattern of one person recalling and the rest being fine during such spikes.
• Don't play with people you know have really slow connections. Need citation on this but I believe the connection throttles the speed of everybody else to the slowest person. Had an incident where as soon as a member of our guild joined, we would lag because of his slow connection. They got a line upgrade and lag stopped unless it was server side.
• Switch off combat log and change your effects display to display just numbers in the N+n+n+n format (does not help much but its something).

None of the above is 100% tested so its just basic observations and speculation. If it works, great, if it doesn't, I'm sorry for getting your hopes up.

Reminds me of an experiment I did a few days ago. Logged in with my lap top N53S and managed to lag wipe on heroic normal. I can play other mmorpgs (cabal online, rift, requiem bloodymare, you name it) without EVER lagging. I can even play online using steam without problems. Only DDO seems to have the crippling lag. I really hope moving the data center in september will at least reduce the lag since it's getting really ridiculous ........

No it was announced that they were going to move to a new datacenter during the year in April.

Since moving a datacenter from one location to another is something I've been part some 9 years ago... I can tell that it's not something easy... especially if you have to do it as seamlessly as possible for the end users. ( as in limited downtime and no major changes in how things are done )

They did move the billing servers or something else already. They haven't moved the game servers yet.

Lag last night was awful.  We almost wiped in an EN MoD due to it.  It if wasn't for that handy Jack Jibbers Blade to get the divines up, we would have had to restart.
