LD Hammer users get fucked

How so?  I don't use hammers so help me out.  They classed the Pulverizer crit to Insight bonus.  Isn't everything else a competence bonus, meaning that it will stack?  I thought it seemed like a good thing actually, But totally ignorant on hammer builds here.

They tried to give fighters some lovin' by redistributing some of the PRR benefits to them in the form of feats.

I'm sure they'll whine about them not being auto-granted Tongue

Yeah, cause Fighters are so tight on feats... Smiley If I take more than 8 levels of fighter, I'm generally scratching my head about what to take sometimes.  A feat that gives 12 PRR would be welcome.  One that gives +8 to tactics is pretty strong too.  If only tactics weren't useless for the most part.  How about making Stunning Blow have the same cool down as Stunning Fist?

No this is accurate. It is a buff to pulverizer, and potentially hammer based throwers if they can be salvaged with high enough doubleshot.

Can't make sense of this. Why necessary? Did I miss something?

Edit: The list is weird in quite a few places. This is more than just nerfs, these are some fairly detailed and broad system changes. It affects a number of builds. Can't they leave fucking anything alone for five minutes? I know the answer, don't I? Ah well, perhaps time for another break. Fuck buying any hearts to make up for their continuing nob-twiddling.

I disagree with "balancing" the game with nerfs vs. increasing the rest of the classes to a similar level.

I guess the idea was let's nerf pallys, barbs, mechanics, twf'ers, bow users, monkchers, star chuckers, warlocks, and anyone using heavy armor all at once.  So at least no one will feel singled out.  All you swash Bards out there, nice job dodging the nerf hammer.

the problem with this stance in my opinion is that if they just bring everyone up, all of their balanced old content becomes laughably and pathetically easy, DDO content being case in point. Without resources to go back and change balance in EVERY OLD QUEST, the only option is to just nerf away and try to remove power creep bloat from everyone all at once.

I think at this point, it's sorely overdue, personally.

I'm not overly concerned about the changes.  I came back to the game after a 9-12 month break to find my fighter, FvS, monk, and wizard were all weak as hell vs. when I left.  I've been TR'ing, LRing and E-TRing and trying variations on Druid Wolf, Barb, Bard, Pally, Warlock, and Ranger (real recently) and having fun with it.  I don't get worked up over system changes or attached to certain class/build combinations.  If it makes a build not fun, I'll just change to something that is.  I understand that not everyone feels this way.  Maybe it's the old D&D player in me.  I always played a different class/build in every campaign.  I had some I liked more than others and revisited, but experimenting with new options is fun to me.

They buff tempest just to nerf twf? I dont get it.

And changing improved critical to work with a weapon type is so restricting.

I don't get the nerf to TWF, although from Sev's comments nerfing TWF was clearly a key point of the balancing.  Specifically pally TWF'ers.

Is the new improved critical going to be just one feat and you get all the weapon types?

Noticed Khopesh wasn't on the +3 list, just +2 like other swords.  I didn't use it much, but that'll make some folks mad I expect.

Why is this so hard for people to figure out?

Improved critical going to be the same bonus as it is now, just additive instead of multiplative.   It's their fix for the crazy crit ranges people are getting with it being a multiplier.

Khopesh is 19-20 X3.  Improved crit currently makes it 17-20 X3.  Again, nothing is changing.

Khopesh doesn't have an extended crit range.  It has an extended multiplier.  It is 19-20 base, just like long sword, Short sword and bastard sword.  But it has a x3 multiplier instead of x2.  Falchion, Kukri, Scim, Rapier, and Great X-bow are the only weapons with the 18-20 range.  Everything is getting the correct threat range expansion.

Yep, sorry. Missed the fact that Crit Rage and Pulverizer were different bonuses. Thought they were the same. My bad.  Embarrassed

They made the Improved Crit feat changes so they don't get affected weirdly by Kensei's Keen Edge or Divine Crusader's Celestial Champion.

Seems a bit misguided and broad strokes if that was the aim. Ah well, should expect it by now!

Yeah, they're no longer doubling, just getting whatever + the base weapon would get.  So it's a nerf for them; to use your example, ESoS will crit 16-20 instead of 15-20 with IC.

Because right now, critical is slashing/pierce/bludge and it says it will be changed to weapon type. They way I read it it will no long apply to all slashing and just apply to longswords or whatever weapon type is selected.

I didn't read it that way.

Quote:
These feats now add a bonus to critical threat range based purely on weapon type.

I read that as the feats staying the same, but the bonus they give will be based on weapon type.

Of course, it's entirely possi.... probable that they'll fuck up the coding, and your greatsword will become a falchion, and the fix will be to make a feat for each weapon type, but I don't think that was the intended message.
