I'd kind of like to do a pure-caster life since I am getting burned out on Melee. How badly do you need melee ability on warlock? I see a lot of pure(20 warlock) builds running around. I guess there aren't a whole lot of great top-lvl warlock spells, so that's not totally necessary. I dunno, guess it's worth considering.
Your pact damage will lose 2d4 and your blast damage will lose 1d6 with a 3 level splash.
You are also losing the level 18 and 20 cores in the enhancement trees. ES cores have 3d6 blast damage at level 18 and +2 CON, +2 CHA, +20% Competence Bonus to Maximum HP, full Base Attack Bonus, +10 Melee Power, +10 Ranged Power, +10 Universal Spell Power, and +20 Light Spell Power at level 20. TS core has 10% faster blast RoF at level 18 and 1d6 blast damage, +30% spell crit damage, +4 charisma at level 20. SE core has +5% crit chance on blasts at level 18 and a insta kill spell that has a necromancy will save of 46+charisma mod at 20. You can easily get that into the 80 range.
Just for the level 18's, would you give up a +1 to crit threat range that stacks with all other bonuses on a melee as a level 18 core? Because that's what the SE level 18 core offers. What about a core that offered +10 to base damage or a stacking 10% alacrity bonus? 17/3 is going to be a weak blaster. I would only do that if I was going Aura and planning on meleeing.
The ES level 20 core gives you 20% HP and a +2 to Con. If you are feeling like you need more survivability, look in the ES tree. You will find PRR and MRR as well as self healing and HP boosts.
