so the greasy, cock-gobbling, dick-gnawingh, ball-skin-tugging-with-their-teeth developers keep driving nails in the coffin, but the laters nerf to melee and ranged dps is the worst.

the devs are trying to introduce "DC archery" where crowd control, fear effects, and insta-kills supplant raw, numerical DPS beatdown.  i wasn't too sure about it when i first heard of it, now i'm 99% sure that slaying arrow is GONE!  kiss that shit goodbye, it's going to be a DC based instakill that will (obviously) never work on red or orange named bosses, or even EE trash.

the fact that even melee DPS got fucked due to the nerfing of all crits (both crit range and crit damage boosts) is beyond silly.  it's a wholesale nerfing of everyone and everything but casters.  casters, however, already got royally screwed when the enhancement pass went live: the lost the enhancement lines to both spell critical rate AND spell critical multipliers (sorcs and fvs were hardest hit).

overall, quests are going to take longer to finish, be much more difficult, soloing will be practically eliminated; which fucking sucks because the server populations are all dropping!  as fewer and fewer players remain active, they're simultaneously making it harder to solo quests, or run them short handed.  i used to stick to small, tight groups for the EE quests that were literally un-soloable (lever pulling or what not requiring more than one player.)  now, people are actually going to have to wait for quests to fill: and risk runnign in a gay-parade group.

AA were due for a stern, throrough, unmitigated dicking; i knew that.  fury archers are OP (that's why i spent so much time on those builds), especially sick was when they removed all pre-reqs for AA besides just being elf!  the multiclassing capabilities were insane since you had full access to AA, in any class or combination of classes, just based on picking elf as your race; gross!  however, they're really sticking to everyone with this new nerf shit.

imroved critical now grants +1 crit range instead of double crit range?! fuck them, dude!  if it stacks with keen, the that's a total of +2, but then you have to use a keen weapon.  unless they start making diamonds of keen to slot, that shit's fucked beyond belief bad.

get ready to start seeing groups where every player is a self healing caster, and a single healer to keep the trapper alive.  melees are effectively worthless (get real: you have to get close to EE mobs to deal shit damage?!)  ranged toons are going to be effectively relegated to cheap forms of crowd control that can affect a large group of mobs with one ailment or another without blowing through a bluebar in 30 seconds.

i was so damaged spec'd because every single point made a gargantuan difference when furyshotting: all my builds build were based on the interplay between manyshot, slayer arrow, and adrenaline, made all the merrier by stacking max archer's focus before getting crazy with the cheese whiz.  that time has passed.   

i flat out accused the devs on ddochat.com of repeatedly and arbitrarily messing with the game as a form of "busy work" that makes it look like they're doing something to justify the continued issuance of a paycheck: and for no other reason.  banned.

cordovan stated that this was not the wort nerf in ddo history talking about taking the instakill effect away from vorpal weapons. note the dev's spurious logic: vorpals?!  nobody was building for vorpals, motherfucker, it was a random weapon effect they got rid of.  what they're doing here is making build-ruining changes; hardly the same thing.

so archer's focus is fucked, manyshot is down by 44%, crits will be generated at less than half the current rate, slayer arrow will be useless beyond level 20 or so; all in one update without soliciting any feedback on the proposed changes.  indeed, the squashing of dissent seems to be their main priority.

OK, this I really have to take exception to. Clearly the current crowd not only wants a paycheck and cover for the pac-man LARP sessions, they also harbor a deep and abiding hatred for DDO players. We didn't love and praise their paltry bumbling effort, put their finger-paint Picasso on our living-room wall, and now we must suffer for it.
  

Turdbin, keep changing the DDO rules, because McDonalds sold over 200 billion hamburgers by changing the recipe for their Special Sauce every couple of months to keep interest up.

We'll start with Red: Improved crit was not NERFED in any way (cept for a few weapons that had irregular crit ranges). Before it read as "Doubles crit range" and now it reads as "+x based on weapon". For instance, a dagger has a range of 19-20, with IC, this was brought to 17-20. Now- Dagger still has a 19-20 range, and gets a +2 to critical range.. OMG! it still has a 17-20 range, NERF!.. Fucking moron..

Blue: Been to lama to test your claims of "moar hard" yet?. I still lama test, to see whats newly broken, and can still walk through EE orchards without too much hassle. (Then again, I range/kite.. it may/maynot be harder for melee? anyone care to share on that one) I know my warlock still roflstomps shit.. just required a lil bit of respec.

Purple: Perhaps this is your problem then. You got used to non-WAI builds, and now are crying because they are working properly as they should have. Maybe DDO to hard for you, Try Hello Kitty, i hear they only laugh at you when you cry.

Grey: You claim you did nothing wrong to deserve a ban, yet you clearly point out you were badgering (not that i care) the devs in a public chat. What did you expect to happen? Lets see you go to your work (Lulz, as if you could hold a job) and say the same shit to your boss. Bet you get fired on the spot. You still going to use the excuse "i did nothing wrong"

Green: From what i seen, archers focus isnt dead, just less effective by about 5% or so. Not a huge loss imo.

Manyshot downby 44%? pulling numbers out the ass here or.. A pure ranger has a base 20 BAB + 4 at epic level 27. 24*4=96% doubleshot, assuming ofc that you do not have an enhancment/spell effect granting full bab for level (28). Old style manyshot allowed 4 arrows per shot at bab 16, current manyshot will allow 1.96 arrows per shot. a decrease of 51%, not 44.. but still Cheesy. If using tensers (why wouldn't you be?) It would be a decrease of 47%. (Bab 28*4=112 = 2.12 arrows per shot)

However, it now also increases your ranged power (which it did not do before) by that same amount, 96/112 RP = an increase per arrow (assuming 100 base dmg for easy maths) to 196 dmg per shot, rather than 100. So, with old style we have 400 dmg per shot (4 arrows * 100 dmg = 400) While now we have 1.96 arrows, 100 dmg, and 96 power : 1.96(100*1.96)= 384.16 dmg per volley/shot.  A mere 3.96% dmg less than you were doing before.. Cry moar? And, assuming you use tensers : 2.12(100*2.12)=449.44 dmg per volley, which is an increase of dps by 12.36%.. so again, cry moar harder.

As far as crits go, i already explained they will not be happening half as much (due to feats/enhancments at least) They will happen less often however because the Feat no longer multiplies the enhancments as well. So i guess to a dumbass, this is a nerf.. Still, cry cry cry.

Sireth - 18-20. +1 from DC Celestial Champion, +3 Sly Flourish (rogue), +1 Staff Spec (Rogue) = 20-18=2*2=4+1=5+1+1+3=10: 10-20 crit range when using the attack Sly Flourish, 20-18=2*2=4+1=5+1+1=7: 13-20 when not using it (Is how it SHOULD work)

However it currently does this: 20-18=2+1+1+3=7*2=14+1=15: 5-20 Crit range when using Sly Flourish, 20-18=2+1+1=4*2=8+1=9: 11-20 crit range on every other attack.

Again, it was not a NERF it was a FIX..

IC (or as you stupidly call it: Improved Crit Crit [IC Crit]) applied after all other enhancments/spells/abilities, which was not working as intended. It caused many things to apply twice when they should have only applied once. Bards Exploit weakness for example offered a +1 to crit range on non-crits. A 19-20 weapon, with IC stood at 17-20. With Exploit weakness stack 1 (+1 range) the weapon went from 17-20, to 15-20, rather than 16-20 like it should have. This was a BUG, therefor the "nerf" to IC, was only a fix. If you are incapable of understanding that, there be no hope for you.

IC applied multitivly, rather than additively which caused this bug. By instead taking the "doubles" and giving it an integer, it removed the bug. +3 to weapons that origianlly went from 18-20 to 15-20, +2 to weapons that went from 19-20 to 17-20, and +1 for weapons that went from 20 to 19-20. Improved Crit, for the most part, still applies exactly the same as it always did. No nerf there save for these weapons:

While KNN is truly a faggot, he sadly has a point:

Imp crit changes were/are a nerf.

Screw the "not working as intended" part - I am fine with them fixing it. The nerf lies in the weapons you listed.

They are, apart form TF, many of the most powerful weapons in the game at their lvl. They are not just "shitty weps no one uses". And this is lowering their effectivity a lot. That is simply a nerf for many of my toons.

Also, I am not currently running an acrobat, but I like acrobats. They are fiun to me.
But TA DPS dropped so much by this nerf (because all decent staves have somehow modified crit range), that it is disheartening.

I mean come on - TAs definitely werent THE deadly DPS class in the game that had to be nerfed to the ground, correct?

Oh by all means, i fully agree that it is a neff, when it comes to the specific weapons that have their ranges otherwise modified from their normal base ranges. There is an "easy" way to otherwise return these said weapons back to how they are now (excluding weird stacking issues) by increasing the base range slightly farther. In the case of sireth - which has an 18-20 currently, i would make it innately 16-20.. simply to keep it where it is now, as well as after the change (15-20 range with IC)


An easier fix still would be to fix IC, without having to change it. By this i mean fix the code on how things are applied to weapons, Feats should apply first and foremost. This would prevent any additional things added from being affected my IC, as IC is already tied to the weapon.
