Want to build a Dex-based archer (possibly pure Ranger) that should wind up with 9 - 12 sneak attack dice + the extra sneak damage from a Ring of House Avithul (average of 60+ sneak damage at any range with the Deepwood capstone).
I was originally going to go with Shadar-Kai as my race choice but the more I look at it, I strongly considering going for Halfling.
In D&D, small races have to use smaller weapons that do less damage. Is this true in DDO? The answer won't make or break the build but I'd like to make a decision based on all the facts.
Can anyone tell me about any relationship between toon size and weapon damage? Are there any other reasons I should reconsider the Halfling or consider some other race?
Also, regarding Epic Destinies, I like Divine Crusader a lot but I suppose Shiradi should also be considered. Does anyone have any strong feelings about Shiradi for a full-time archer, one way or another? Any other Epic Destiny choices I should consider?
Halflings are not limited to certain weapons due to size. Nor to weapon damage.
Here are their racial specific traits, most due to size:
+2 Dexterity, –2 Strength
+1 size bonus to Armor Class
+1 size bonus on attack rolls
+4 size bonus on Hide checks
+2 racial bonus on Jump, Listen, and Move Silently checks.
+1 racial bonus on all saving throws.
+2 morale bonus on saving throws against fear: This bonus stacks with the Halfling’s +1 bonus on saving throws in general.
+1 racial bonus on attack rolls with thrown weapons.
Carrying capacity is three-quarters of that of a Medium character.
-4 Intimidate penalty for each class size lower (-4 vs. normal, -8 vs. large).
As for race, I'm not sure it matters that much, since there are a lot of AP to spend in the DWS and AA trees. You might be able to squeeze in at least one rank in Guile, though.
