I really hoped Sev would have gone for Aasimars, I did read him talking about gnomes as the wisdom race somewhere in the past though.

If it's not public knowledge already, it must have been in one of the pc general discussion threads.

Anyone want to bet they'll release the race, and an iconic version simultaneously in order to double dip on their work?

Probably a good idea. And maybe the base race will be free! That would be nice.

GNOMES: because we couldn't think of any other race you'd give less of a shit about.

The Vault just keeps on giving.  Cheesy

Also, Gnomes are gaytarded. I tried to like them since my days in PnP, but they're still just poor man's Dwarfs.

Its likely, as mentioned above, that if Gnomes do make an appearance, it'll just be re-skinned wireframes from Halflings with perhaps a few new hairstyles or maybe glowing eyes as a feature (like they're shown in 4e)

All this because "tails is hard yo!" (Re: Tieflings) and "Because reasons!" (Re: Shifters, Aasimar and everything else everyone would prefer before fucking Gnasty Gnarly Gnomes)

At some point, Sev said no more Iconics.  Not sure why - doesn't make any sense to me.  I thought Iconics were a good way to commercialise DDO.  Not necessarily a wise one, but a good one to get money.  I can only imagine the fun an newb player has running an Iconic in level 15 quests without understanding any of the mechanics.

Agreed - Aasimars are a better option if you're going to have a race.  already have all the character models and animation in humans.

I agree with the Iconics position here. Not a fan of the premise personally, but I have seen more than a few of the precious new players running around as Iconics. Some of them are in my Guild. It certainly gets them up and running without the agony that diehards like myself went through starting as 28 pt. gimps in Korthos.

As for Aasimars, iirc, they are +2 Wis +2 Cha with no penalties and a few minor abilities. So start them all like Drow at 32 pts and recycle the human models. Maybe add some particle effects to simulate the "celestial" nature. Seems like easy money to me... Even if they made them Iconic, they could start with Paladin or FvS as a class, and most of the racial tree could be stitched together from Morning Lord and Exalted Angel with minimal effort.

Then again, we don't have working Racial trees for the races we already have...

So just more Pipe Dream wishful thinking Tongue

Starting Aasimars at 28 pts at first life (like Drow) would have been fine.

Do not try the patience of wizards, for they are subtle and quick to anger.

We are dreamers, shapers, singers, and makers. We study the mysteries of laser and circuit, crystal and scanner, holographic demons and invocation of equations. These are the tools we employ, and we know many things.

Good catch.

I guess I should have worded it "de facto 32 pt. Like Drow."

28 pt. + 2 Wis + 2 Cha = 32 pt.
