I can totally understand you! You invested time and money into a hero over years that became like an Avatar of yourself. You don’t play a stable full of mediocre everyday toons like everybody else has, but a well planned build that represents you ingame .. is YOU ingame. Leveled through several lives with dedication, geared with loot grinded in endless hours and near the point that one could proudly say: YES.. THIS IS IT! Now my character is like I wanted him to be, perfect in what he was built for.

Therefore it’s a personal thing when the DEVs decide to meddle around with the very basic mechanics of the game and render your build, your gear, your plans useless overnight. For them it’s is just a bit tweaking with a few numbers, but for players that don’t take the game lightly it is a severe affront. Hours of playing in the past are for NOTHING now and hours of playing fun in the future ruined because they left you with a multi-past-live gimp.

But the DEVS are not willing to see it that way, not willing to even listen. They keep telling the people that this are only minor changes and won’t impact anyone to much because they don’t know it any better. The DEVs didn’t build those heroes they are nerfing on a whim and if you dare to tell them that they might be wrong.. oh dear.. they simply abuse their power and delete any unwanted opinion.

You know what I did? I read through the “Balance”-Post, thought to myself “OK, this is it”, unsubbed my account and deleted my main toon so I won’t have any reason in the future to come back to this treacherous pack of liars and thieves. I am done with DDO and I can tell you it feels great – I made sure they will never see a penny from me ever. If a friend keeps stealing your stuff and breaking things you made with care, would you keep his friendship? Hell no! Punch him in the face real hard and be done with it.

I am a bit self-critical too; I shouldn’t have spent so many resources on DDO. I don’t care for the money and the time spend, but I do care for all the support I gave them. I spoke for DDO when people were trash talking about the game and I did my best to support them and make it better. But all I got was a kick in the groin as a thank-you. Paying customer for years? Helping new players? (CUSTOMERS!) Active community member? Doesn’t count at all; Turbine nerfes you into oblivion regardless.

But I don’t care anymore and that is a relief. There are other nice games around like “Star-Citizen” or “Pillars of Eternity”. Those games are founded on kickstarter and those DEVs know exactly who they own the game to. They hear the players that made the game possible buy founding and playing it. I should have switched to something better than DDO much earlier, but I am glad I did it now. My advice: JUST DO IT! BE FREE LIKE ME! DELETE AND NEVER LOOK BACK!

Wow, you're lucky you don't have a stable of mediocre toon.
Imagine all that mediocrity?  How do we manage to dare to play this game if we aren't l33t?
You're right, we mediocre toon owners don't have as far to fall when our builds get nerfed alongside yours.

Of course, we mediocre toon owners likely spent just as many hours on many toons as you did on one so that we could have something to play as the whims of the devs change every few months.  It does bring to mind an old adage about eggs in a basket....now how did it go?

I have a stable of mediocre characters to exploit turbine's inept efforts to "balance".

Now hold still so I can cast Raise Dead on your soul stone.

Some chose to play a lot of toons and others chose to play one toon you put all your afford into.

Good for you, but I am addressing fellow players that fall deep with these nerfs.

So you say: Better play a lot of differnt heroes because Turbine may thrash one or the other at random? You are right, but this information woulf have been of far more value to me five years ago!

Yes, sucks to be one of the players that tried to do one thing really well and don't have a backup toon now. And I am enjoying Turbine free gaming, just visited the vault to let others in the same situation know how good that feels. Don't think I will "enjoy" the vault much in the future and vice versa. Have fun.. or not.. your choise.

Come to The Vault for the opportunity to express your frustration with DDO's anti-player culture.

Stay with The Vault for the boobs and donuts.

So you came here to give yourself a highfive on the vault?

I  can (kind of) understand your frustration but you shouldn't be mad about players that didn't make the same errors than you did. You married the wrong game kid! DDO was a cheating whore from the beginning.

Personally I am hoping that Walking_Pride & Co. stay in the game some more because the whole "DOOOM - they killed my build - I'm gonna ragequit" thing is bound to happen again and again. Quite amusing I must say.
And I don't think they have the balls to quit and delete. Cancel the subscription perhaps but not deleting a gimped main to never look back. What else would be left for those losers when they quit DDO?

Nice to hear that you found something else to spend your money and time on, I enjoyed Pillars and may be looking into Star C. when it is out of beta.

While I'm more the "stable of mediocre alts" type, I share your frustration over having detailed plans trashed by developer whim and floundering.

If you're really pissed at them, spread the wrath. Go out with a bang on the forums, who cares if you get banned. Offer you gear one piece at a time in trade with an explanation for each, on a Saturday night - "/trade Free Ethereal Bracers, I'm quitting the game because I'm sick of the random rules changes" and repeat it in 10 minutes with another piece of gear. Not enough vitriol to get yourself banned, but enough to get your point across to as many people as possible.

Remember, if  player(consumer) confidence is down, people spend less, and that will make the quarterly revenue numbers reflect badly on the people who made the decisions you're unhappy with. Karma, baby!  Shocked

Turdbin, keep changing the DDO rules, because McDonalds sold over 200 billion hamburgers by changing the recipe for their Special Sauce every couple of months to keep interest up.

I can't post on the mobs anymore because I pointed out some DEV posts that showed how little insight into the game they actually have. I posted here to reach to players that are angry like me. If you are fine with DDO you are not the target group of my posts, keep on playing and adapt to every new shitty idea the DEVs may have in the future.

You understand nothing you pitiful creature. I am fucking legion. I require a stable to represent me. I have one toon each for my nuts and three separate toons for my dick. I look at my dick and say "There you are... that's YOU ingame." (I'm multi-boxing).

Look, dicknuts, when life hands you shit you make excrement golems and command them to throatfuck your enemies until santorum shoots out of their nose. The only mediocre toon I have is the one representing my sympathy for people who try to protect their pet builds. The DDO community should be united in two things: rallying against incompetence and buffing my cock.

So untwist your panties, come up with an argument other than "But I don't like it!" and post that argument where people will see it and think about it. Then roll up a cleric and make sure you have Remove Disease so you can group with me.

It's a game...

My investment is money I spend on this entertainment and not on other like going to see a movie...
Because it gives a better bang for the bucks I put into it... I spend more time in DDO than I'd spend time watching a movie in a month... So it's definitely worth the $ I pay each month.

I'm not saying I believe you, but on the small chance that you were actually telling the truth:

Severlin posted:

Some followup.

We've done some follow up testing and it looks like Two Weapon Paladins are somewhat behind where we want them to be for DPS. They are running equal with Two Handed builds and Vanguard builds, but they are obviously behind the AoE of two handed fighting and the extra mitigation of a shield. We will be adding Holy Sword back to non-shield off hand builds. With the fix to improved critical the DPS difference that provides should put them where we want them for DPS.

Like I said, I really doubt any of what you posted was true, instead of just annoyed barking, but if it was and you did actually delete you character?

You should have waited to see what went live.

I am not sure who is the more severe case, you or the OP.

You can't win the Vault, you can only make a fool of yourself and be added to my ignore script. Hi Welcome
