"working" needs to be in sarcastic air quotes.

Its really funny if you scroll through that thread. Everyone's really happy and hopeful, sev keeps updating them, then the updates peter slowly off...


Also incidentally, they were NEVER going to release the server code, just a non-editable server program. You'd be able to modify the database, but that's it. I thought it'd be cool to make my own AC server, the game looks fun but you can't even register a forum account right now(its even gone truly free, no micro transactions) but I've heard its a PvP nightmare. Still, my own server to dick around on would be cool.
