ETR bug
Nov 9th, 2015 at 4:51pm
Print Post
So I just got back to 20 and went to set up my destiny with the dickspinner, and realised I've been hit with the bug where your destiny xp gets completely wiped out. I submitted a ticket, and am still waiting about an hour later. Any idea on how quickly this shit usually gets sorted out? If I log off are they just going to close off the ticket?

You should call them.

Much faster response time.

Yeah, just took a while for the response. Not really prepared to ring a US number from overseas, but thanks anyway.

It happens often enough that the GM's have a fix (6M XP stone or some such). If so, make sure you keep one for future re-use.   Grin
Shame they don't fix the source of the problem instead of band-aid solutions.

Your right that the the GM's know about it now, bu they actually they hit you with the xp remotely, you log on to the effect toon and adopt the destiny and they load it.

A 6mil stone would be so nice, man the things you could do with that!

Last month I lost 5 of my Epic past lives after the ETR, luckily I had heeded the advice to always take many screenshots of your Toon's stats before ETR.  But all in all in took almost 8 days before they could fix that.

I always wonder what happens to a player who is not on the forums, CH's, or here when that happens, poor bastards.

Bummer about the stone.  So much potential win!   Grin
Last year someone posted a screenie of an Xp stone the GM's purportedly used.  Maybe it was someone having a laugh.    Undecided

Yes, I know they have the band-aids and I'm careful to screenie everything, but I worry about the poor bastards who don't know how bug ridden it is.

People get corrupted toons which they can't fix.  People lose their TR cache - which they can't fix.  They spend a bit time of time repairing player's toons after faulty ETR/TR's.  Even tomes are apparently being lost.

They should try to fix the system or have a short term backup so player's don't need to prove what they had.  The GM can see a snapshot of the toon as the previous TR took place.

Not suggesting a rollback, just a way for GM's to validate what your toon had as the TR process was initiated.  Doesn't avoid the fixes in the short term, but does avoid the need to validate.

Imagine the effect something like the above has on someone who did not take screenie's and the GM's don't believe them?  it'd be enough to quite the game for many losing all your progress.

OK, I'm getting ready to HTR, any bugs/workarounds I should prepare for? What should I grab screenshots of, or is HTR fairly stable?

Turdbin, keep changing the DDO rules, because McDonalds sold over 200 billion hamburgers by changing the recipe for their Special Sauce every couple of months to keep interest up.

HTR is usually pretty stable I think. I think my issue was ETRing and then immediately HTRing, it was my first EPL, and reading the mobos it seems like it's usually a first ETR that causes the issue. In any case, to be safe, take screenies of your feat screen with the new "inherent" feats that show all the tomes you've eaten, take one of your character sheet, one of your ED page and one of all your important btc gear. The main thing is the tomes and equipment, they can fix most other stuff easily I think.

Ouch, same happened to me but as completely f2p (not a dollar spent or card bought, just farmed tp/sale tricks) I COULD NOT ask for GM help. It was beyond me f2p priviliges... "Luckily" I still needed 4x3 iconic lives back then so that was the nice opportunity to relevel my eds.

Interesting note: a lot of smaller bugs happened to me during ETR-ing. Like my items remaining on my toon, causing burden of guilt, not getting my tome bonuses until relog, unable to lvl back to 20 until relog. I guess I should still consider myself lucky after Grand's story:

The most broken epic PL in the game is the ridiculous AC buff from martial PLs. But when you include all the inherent benefits from reincarnation, the thing is above the roof. The benefit from TR was supposed to be minimal, but now it is game breaking. start a new character and you will feel, you will get raped in heroics.

Personally I think lower heroics on new characters are harder than Legendary Elite content on a character with good gear and has all destinies farmed.

Wow.

Have you EVER gone to Law School Feyn? Have you EVER been asked by a United States Senator who is now the Vice President of the United States to write a paper just for him on a particular topic of Constitutional Law for his use as a Senator? Have you ever been asked to help a very notable Harvard PhD turned Constitutional scholar with his very-well received book on Legal Philosophy and Constitutional Revolutions? Have you ever been offered a job as a Deputy Attorney General BEFORE you even graduated Law School?

No? Then STFU you fucking amateur.

I suspect its your total inventory (aka bank AND toon inventory) that matters. I noticed my strongest toon (having pretty much all useful raid gear from titan, adq, tod, mod, von, mastificer) always DC upon logging in first with him. If I log with my weaker alt with half inventory, but many past lives as well, all if good.

I think the "undressing" and inventory magaging processes during TR-ing need to be addressed by the devs. But ofc, will not be.

Therein lies the greatest flaw.
The Turdbine system fails and F2P are not entitled to any help?

I'd buy the cheapest thing I could and wait a few days then claim the ETR problem.

I am amazed that you've never spent a cent on the game though?
I understand people take pride in this, but I tend to follow the same philosophy as Meursault though.
If I enjoy a game, I am willing to support it financially.
In recent times, I keep my sub only and spend no extra.  I only keep my sub so I keep the VIP features (so I don't have to buy all the bloody packs).  My gaming time is too finite to grind for TP unfortunately.   Undecided

Many years ago when I had spare time (BK - before kids), friends used to give me discs full of games to try.
I'd play thru them enough to get a feel for them and if they were good, I'd buy the originals. I was happy to do this if the game was good enough.

Not l33t hacker behaviour I know, but I always liked to support the development houses that produced good games.

There is actually a way the GM's can help you. I had the very same bug several times and the way I got a GM to help me was to submit an actual bug report, explaining clearly what happened as well as indicating that you are a F2P/Freemium player (SS showing you don't have the submit ticket button as well as your account status on myaccount.ddo.com was what I used). Once somebody on the other end reads it, it gets tossed into their waiting line where the ticket only becomes active once you log on with that character.

Longest waiting period for the bug report was 2 days due to me submitting on Saturday morning European times and the ticket got answered within 20 minutes once I had logged in to the character in question. The other two times it happened, waiting time was around 3 hours, from bug report to GM responding.

Hope that helps those that are Freemium like myself.

This is not uncommon behavior. The RIAA does not understand it, either.

Except the one where your disembodied soul is reunited with your resurrected and glorified body to re-incarnate that glorified body.
