Black Friday Special - Better Way to buy TP's?

Turbine marked down the starter/expansions 85%. Some of them include Turbine Points and at the marked down rate are much better deals for just the TP's alone (let alone the add-ons). Wondering if anyone's ever tried to add on a code they've already bought in the past (the Starter Pack for example) and whether it works or not.

For the gory math, TP's are on double-bonus sale at the moment. The best price per TP is the 33,500 TP's for $199.99, which is 167.5 TP's / $. Here's the packs available that include TP's with their details:

  • Shadowfell Collector's Edition: Wheloon and Stormhorns if you don't have them, PDK/SDK/Morninglord if you don't have them, +3 character slots, Greater Tome of Epic Learning (1 free tome per DDO game world), one +2 skill tome, and 2,000 TP's for $7.50 (266.67 TP's / $)
  • Shadowfell Standard: No SDK/Morn, 1 character slot, lesser tome of epic learning and +1 skill tome, 1,000 TP's for $4.50 (222.22 TP's / $)
  • MotU Standard: King's Forest, Underdark, Demonweb, Epic Destinies, Druid Class, Eveningstar Challenges, Greater Tome of Learning, Vet Status, Phiarlan, Attack on Stormreach, Path of Inspiration, The Dreaming Dark, and 1,000 TP's for $5.25 (190.48 TP's / $)
  • Starter Pack: Catacombs, Scorp Pet, Permanent Cleric Hireling, 5 Excellent Experience Elixirs, 250 Tp's for $1.50 (166.67 TP's / $ which is slightly behind their best package but has a better chance of working than the other packs for people that already have it I'd think.)
  • Half-Orc/Druid Packs: Trinket or Lesser Tome of Learning, the class, 500 TP's for $3.00 (166.67 TP's / $)

Again, not sure if you can rebuy packs you already have or if you'd get a warning that you already have them. If you can't rebuy then this is only useful for people that haven't got them yet but even in that case this would be a great time to get them - they're worth it for just the TP's if you ever buy points.

Someone in /defense was saying they bought Shadowfell collector's, I didn't think to ask if he was buying it a second time, but the way he was talking about it seemed to imply that he was.

Also, the Druid pack does not include TP, just a lesser learning tome and the class.

Remember you can also get 11k TP for 59.99 on checkout with the expansions, not sure if that's still a deal or not.

LOL, 85% off!? I said I didn't want it even for 75% off, but for 85% off I think I might buy Shadowfail collectors edition.

They didn't discount the upgrade that includes the owlbear defender. It's still $50 which looks pretty stupid added on to a $7.50 purchase.

Saw that.  Real shame as I didn't mind the legendary upgrade.

The starter pack for $1.5 is great too.

How long are the discounts for?

It was only $1.50, figured, what the hell.

You can buy the basic shadowfell if you already have the collectors', though, so that's neat.  Same with the motu, although the basic motu doesn't come with turbine points.

Actually, what I'd really like is a second permanent gold-seal Eilieri, I have several low level characters and for the ones that aren't druids or artificers, having an extra summons for levers is awesome. I use her well into the teen levels for that, but I always forget to pass her back and forth, or it takes me extra time to switch characters because I have to find who has her and get to a bank. Paying $1.5 would be well worth the convenience of another.

Definitely this. Love having a gold-seal lever puller in case I forget to pop the hire at the beginning. Smiley

Thanks to Starkjade for testing this as well. Really nice to get feedback as I'd asked Turbine this right when I made the original post here and have gotten nothing yet.

Already tested this a while ago and reported it (or had friend report it idr). You cannot apply the same type of expansion code twice. I also thought it would be a great way to get spare TPs before, so I see where yall coming from. Also iirc you cannot apply an expansion lower than a version you already applied even for the extras. You can however go from lower to higher.

You can, I bought the collector's shadowfell when it was released, and just bought the basic version on sale and it worked.

So how do you buy this stuff? Not the in-game store, right?  Is it through Steam or what?

Thanks, works fine.  Normally I wouldn't spend money on Failbine, but $15 for 3500 points and 1 Greater Tome of Learning, 1 Greater Tome of Epic Learning, some xp pots, and a few other goodies, it was hard to pass up.

I already owned every pack but so long as I didn't have at least 1 part of each sale item I was able to redeem it.  So since I didn't have the Sun-elf iconic, I could buy the set with that included.  Since I didn't own the eveingstar challenges I was able to buy the expansion.

Same. I bought MOTU standard shadowfell standard and had no problems applying them.  You can also buy the 11,000 TP for $59.99 at checkout, although I didn't do that.

Nice...

I was able to make a starter account for the kid/mule and bought the 11,000 point code also...

the point code is transferable...

The wife got the bonus to her account.
Good insight if you need TP... make a new mule and buy the 11k points at $50 rather than 8850 for $60

If you just need TP seems like the cheapest way to go for TP (THIS WEEKEND) is the $4.50 shadowfell standard pack plus the $60 for the 11k point code...

still better TP/$ (11k/$64.50) than the 33500/$200 (or any other point bundle)

yeah $11.70 to upgrade piker account with both expansions...

Just when I was wondering how much it was going to cost me and how I was going to do it... Perfect timing.

Now I can ( almost ) dual box in Epic ( I need to get piker account epic toon equipped though... Otto Stone stuff is subpar ).

Dear players,

The D&D rules you were familiar with were too simple to understand, so we're continuing our move away from them to needlessly confusing subsystems that will make your play experience less fun and invalidate old builds and loot. We hope you have fun working out what the fuck MRR, PRR, MP, SP, RP, CL, MCL and all the other bullshit we made up whilst drunk means.

Love,

People who don't know how to fix their own mistakes cleanly
